Something to cheer up the community.
I've got hold of the new issue of PCGamer, and it has the Top 100 in it.

Freespace 2 is still in there, at a healthy 24, and this is what they say:

We're rarely prone to sweeping statements, us. But balls to it - Freespace 2 is the best space sim you can buy. Its rare blend of nail-edge dogfighting, mission variety, movie-scale plot and squadron management remains unmatched, and since no-one seems to be making space sims these days,  that's likely to remain so for some time to come. We urge to play it if you haven't. And if you have, well dammit, play it again. Nebulae never looked so good.

"...The quintessential quality of our age is that of dreams coming true. Just think of it. For centuries we have dreamt of flying; recently we made that come true: we have always hankered for speed; now we have speeds greater than we can stand: we wanted to speak to far parts of the Earth; we can: we wanted to explore the sea bottom; we have: and so  on, and so on: and, too, we wanted the power to smash our enemies utterly; we have it. If we had truly wanted peace, we should have had that as well. But true peace has never been one of the genuine dreams - we have got little further than preaching against war in order to appease our consciences. The truly wishful dreams, the many-minded dreams are now irresistible - they become facts." - 'The Outward Urge' by John Wyndham

"The very essence of tolerance rests on the fact that we have to be intolerant of intolerance. Stretching right back to Kant, through the Frankfurt School and up to today, liberalism means that we can do anything we like as long as we don't hurt others. This means that if we are tolerant of others' intolerance - especially when that intolerance is a call for genocide - then all we are doing is allowing that intolerance to flourish, and allowing the violence that will spring from that intolerance to continue unabated." - Bren Carlill

I was going to raise a similar point during our next MSN spamming match - Petrarch mate, go and pimp FS2 at PCG until their ears bleed. Do it now.

And pimp my conversion while you're at it

[wishful thinking] If we can get FS2 up to the top five, we JUST MIGHT GET FS3!!!!![/wishful thinking]

Now I'm gonna go back to my new super-accurate-physics, hyper-detailed game engine that I'm writing.  Expect results sometime around 2063...

I had something like this while reading Petrarch's first quote in this thread:

what? - very positive - positive - positive - positive - negative :no:

I just want to say that after those many positive opinions, why is it necessary to note that the nebula is looking bad? :confused:
And why nebulae, not nebula?

I don't want to divert or hijack this thread, but DNF will never go to the shelves of the shops like FS3 :(.
No matter, we have SCP, and FSPORT, modders and mods, and still ... community, and daily newbies around here(altough it is true that every three of them write a single post, but at least we know that there are more people interested in FS. :))

Nebulae = plural of nebula

And they said that nebulae have never llok as good as they do in FS2, not that they look bad in FS2.
