I just made a bit of a cool change to PCS that I have wanted for literaly years, my build of PCS now suports the auto-faceting feature of truespace.
unlike smooth shadeing with simply smoothes everything to it's max auto-faceting alows fo example the sides of a cylender to be fully smoothed while leaveing the tops flat as can be
here is the build,
note I only made a small change for this, about 15 lines of code out of the many hundreds of thosands the Kazan made,
and he isn't to be harased if I ****ed soemthing up in this build
to enable this, use the auto-facet shadeing option in the TS materials editor, it is the one that looks like a cylinder with the tops flattend, the defalt of 32 isn't bad but 40-50 is generaly better, you'r model should come out looking (almost) exactly identical to how it apears in TS
this wasn't that visable a change untill shine maps came about, but the diference should be quite glairing now.
please, please, PLEASE test this, I tryed it, it seemed to work, but I only tested a model that have af on all polys, I may have screwed something up with the smooth shadeing or flat shadeing, and I want this to be known about
and I think this has the larger geometry buffer needed for high poly objects but I'm not sure.
