Could someone sticky this.

OK, I've been doing some work on this and may have found a solution to the nasty switching problem and hopefully the more sevear problems incountered with fullscreen playback.

As always I need testers, only way to know if it really works.
This is a exe for a test program I have put together, its not fs2_open.

Please save any work before testing this just incase.

1. Download exe and unrar with upto date copy of winrar.exe
2. Place an avi called test.avi in the same directory as the exe
3. Run exe and press alt-enter to go into fullscreen
4. Press 's' to start video playback
5. Press space or wait for the video to end. Press Esc to close the exe.

The video should play in fullscreen, without switching to desktop, correctly scaled, without any stutters and when finished return to the 3D app.

Please e-mail* your result, good or bad to me with a copy of your system specs and a description of any problems you currently have with fullscreen video in fs2_open.

If it works I would like to get this in fs2_open for the XMas build so please get testing (it should only take a few minutes)

* I need to spend less time on the net and I may miss it if you post on the boards.

Didn't work for me. I saw the screen switch to fullscreen got about 2-3 seconds of the movie and then the screen went white while the sound played. I'll send an e-mail in a bit.

My teapot stayed on the screen while I heard the audio of the movie played. Trying it again worked. but trying it a 3rd time didn't show the video again (but the sound came thru like the 1st time).

Yep, its a dud.

I get the same problem but only about 1 in 30 trys.
I've implemented it in fs2_open but I wont commit it the way it is.
Its works perfectly with OGL though, which is good.
I'm seeking advise on this and hope to have another bash at fixing it soon.

No problem, hope it gets worked out. I'm going thru the main campaign now in FS Open and it wouldn't feel the same without the movies
