create LAN game -> crash
Hi , when i try to start a LAN game , then FS2_open always crash (SP works great)

I tested to install it only with core files ... -> not working , same error

i had test the debug version , fs2_open_C06252004.exe , the newes build , fs2_open_r and so on , always wont work

i have installed FS2 new (german version) and patched 1.2 (install version was already 1.2)

i cant see the problem :(

sometimes it call for a tvaild.cfg (not found -> hacked) then i creat a txt and renamed it to tvaild.cfg -> works but the next error :) )


can someon help me ?

Note: FS2 without fs2_open works (SP and LAN) ... fs2_open SP works to but no LANgame works :(

Do you have the latest drivers for everything?

It might also be because you're using a German version of Freespace 2.

i have done this

install SF2 (Patch 1.2 already included)

install the launcher (5.x) , the core (test a lot of builds) and the mv_core.vp (size 1,55 MB (1.633.121 Bytes) )

rest is vanilla (FS2 org runs , Fs2_open wont run in LAN)
-> errors ...


already testet FS2Open_3_6-Installer.exe install and copy the new builds in the folders ... wont work :) -> hacked .... blahblah

is the PXO check enabled - then you're not trying to start a lan, you're trying to start a fs2netd game - and crashing probably implies no config

how did i get the eng version of fs2 ? i have buy the ger version 1 week ago to play fs2_open after 3 Years of FS2 abstinence :ick:

Check out the Freespace FTP thread in the general freespace forum. Download the root.vp and the stu.vp (the names might be slightly different). There's also a registry entry you have to set IIRC (although you may be able to set it from the FS2 Retail launcher).

Hi all,

I'm posting a reply to this old topic since i'm having the exact same problem as CvH.
I'm using an english version of the game, so i assume language is not the reason.

I wonder if my VP files aren't corrupted or something. I've checked the size of nearly all the files and it sounds correct. So i'm trying to take "officials" vp files from this site, but the FTP server is always full (files got HUGE sizes so...) and there is only ONE person sharing the main big file on Emule. i'm always queued to that person, so it gonna take me ages to download something.
Is there another way to get vps files ? i can open a FTP server with dedicated bandwith, or if somebody got another idea...

I'm trying to contact CvH in order to know if he get the game to run.
and ... oh! Karajorma, what do u mean about "There's also a registry entry you have to set IIRC", well wich value of registry ?

A few quick questions.

1) Which version of FS2_Open are you using?
2) Which media VP files have you got installed
3) Do you have the 3 CD full retail version or are you running using a downloaded version like HotU or the download version from Game-Warden.

Try also going to the recent builds forum and grabbing the most recent build you can find.
