IF I move the CP file your help thread mentions to another directory to the others, won't that stop the effects being used in single player?

Or is the file you mentioned Multi player only?

What CP file? Not VP file? If you move a VP file to another directory, it will not work in both Single and Multi player.

I have the VP (thankyou for pointing out the spelling error) in F:/games/freespace2/fs2files/

With all the other VP files I downloaded. So, do I have to move the VP files from that directory and place them out of the FS2 Directory entirely? Do I have to move the launcher files (as they are all in the main FS2 directory right now?

I'm uploading some new versions that should fix that bug, but anyway...

mv_aseffects.vp just activates some effects that work only in singleplayer. That way, you just have to move it outside your directory tree (Or put it in a mod directory, and not use that mod) to play multiplayer.

So, why does it stop the Maxim firing in the main FS2 Campaign??

The ships.tbl in mv_aseffects.vp and mv_effects.vp are/were switched. In aseffects the Maxim is set up to be ballistic, but the ships.tbl doesn't support ships with ballistic weapons.

Ah, so if I yank it, all that happens is that the Maxim will go to a energy weapon again? It'll lose the Ammo counter that it had in an ealier build (which I loved by the way. best gun in the game and limited ammo.. class)

So, all I do is pull that file from the others, and I won't lose any of the cool effects I've been seeing recently?

You might lose one or two, but nearly all will remain unchanged.

Right now the new VPs are uploading, but they're taking their time. Of the second batch, I'm 1/3 of the way there after an hour.
