Is there any way to script this? I'd been considering a 5- or 6-mission "survival" run; the destroyer (or whatever) that you're stationed on is in unfriendly space and there're no reinforcements. I'd really like a way to do:

GTVA Pakhet has 14 Seraphis fighters.
On a mission, you lose 3 Seraphis.
On the next mission, you have enough pilots for three wings, BUT YOU ONLY HAVE 11 SHIPS!

Is there any way to do this? I'm assuming it'd be an SCP/FSO thing. It'd be pretty cool for a multiplayer thing ("Dude! You just lost our last Medusa! We are so incredibly screwed."), make you really THINK about reinforcement wings, and maybe see you watch your wingmen's back a little more as opposed to just letting them sit there as extra targets.

It's been desired for a while, and was supposed to be something that persistant variables would eventually be able to help with.  I don't think that was ever fully implimented though, so right now it's not exactly possible.

It's not much of an excuse for a website, but my stuff can be found here

It only requires one step: adding persistent variables to the weapon loadout. :) I haven't gotten around to taking a look at it yet.

I've looked at it a couple of weeks back. To be honest though it didn't look too hard to implement for someone who knows the mission parsing code but I've done nothing more than glance at it a couple of time so I was a little reluctant to start playing about with it yet.

I've been aksing for this for a couple of years now and it's actually one of the main reasons I decided to bite the bullet and actually start trying to learn how to code in C :) That said if you want to take a look at it Goober don't let me stop you :)
Karajorma's Freespace FAQ. It's almost like asking me yourself.
