Yay, twin releases. Everything is Lodded and has debris. The only thing they don't have are shine maps with a working alpha channel. I just blacked it so they wouldn't be mirrors. That'll be some update later on.

GTC Cretheus
Quote
The GTC Cretheus is a new light cruiser, designed primarily for escorting convoys and vunerable ships. With 8 dual flak cannons, it is capable of taking care of most fighter or bomber threats. Its two powerful engines allow it to keep up with any transport ship and almost match speeds with heavier fighters. When faced with a capital ship threat however, the Cretheus' only advantage is its small size and speed. Without any beam cannons and only light armor, the Cretheus must rely on heavier cruisers for survival. Cretheus Cruisers are typically in groups of two or three so that their spread of flak can cover more area.

SC Lamia
Quote
The SC Lamia is a newly discovered Shivan cruiser. Fighter pilots are well advised to let the corvettes and destroyers take care of these cruisers, armed with many flak batteries and anti fighter beams, it can tear any fighter and bomber apart. It is also armed with a beam cannon that can easily take care of cruisers. Its main weakness is a poorly armed rear, with little special weaponry there, any ship that is able to flank the Lamia is spared from the brunt of its firepower.

Very sweet

Those red blobs on the front of the Shivan cruiser remind me of LEDs

Do you mind if I use them in me campaign?

Awesome stuff

The Cretheus is the best ship mapped with textures I've seen in ages. It really looks good with them.

Technically its a LamiaRed , and it does okay. It's closer to an SRed than an LRed, but it does good against cruisers and corvettes (corvette slashers have a hard time hitting the Lamia). If you want to use the weapon on something else, I'd suggest toning down the muzzle size a bit, its a bit bigger than usual for the Lamia's unique firing.

I just pitted these two ships together in a small mission, the Lamia ripped through the Cretheus in seconds with its main beam when they faced each other - lol.  Side by side, the Lamia still had a slight upper hand, so I think I'll beef her up a little bit

Beamless flak cruiser that has weapons that deal neglible amount of damage against large targets (5% of normal damage) versus... well... shivan Aeolus/ advanced Lilith... It isnt too hard to figure out the winner.

I was trying to highlight how effective the Shivan vessel's beam weapon is, not who would win in a battle

The Cretheus textures don't show up for me under D3D

Since most other textures don't show up properly for me in OpenGL means I can't play with your lovely model.

Under no circumstances ever use D3D, OpenGL is supported, D3D is phasing out.

speaking of textures, I've been trying to get the nameplate to work, but if I put a nameplate.pcx file in the \maps folder, the debug build complains that it can't find a texture named 'nameplate'

Do you have the media vps installed? 'nameplate' is a completely transparent texture that should be in mv_models.vp.

OIC, I had the media vps temporarily turned off to troubleshoot something

I just took the Cretheus into subspace and I've never seen the subspace effects being reflected so well on a hull before, superb job!
