Jacking up mouse sensitivity
Recently I have been experimenting with using the mouse for flying the ships as my joystick has recently broken down.
I have only one complaint: even at maximum sensitivity the mouse makes the Perseus look like the Ares in terms of maneuverability.
Is there any way of further increasing sensitivity in-game or through the launcher?

It appears that FS2 has mouse sensitivity settings completely separate from that of windows, so even jacking up the sensitivity outside the game doesn't help.

Re: Jacking up mouse sensitivity
I have spent most of my career keyboard flying, but after experiencing the precision aiming available to joysticks, I couldn't go back.

EDIT: disambiguation: freespace career, just in case anyone is confused.

You guys do know you can adjust the mouse sensitivity in the Options screen, right?  You're not just being more stupid than usual?

I case I was not clear enough before:
I have the mouse sensitivity cranked up to the maximum setting both outside freespace and in the fs2 options, and yet the Perseus handles like a potato.

It's fine for me when I use the mouse. And I'm used to a joystick, too. Maybe it's your mouse, and not the game?

It's definitely my mouse (The IBM ThinkPad "nipple"), but that isn't the problem. I WANT to use this mouse. It's built in. Having a wider range of sensitivity would be very helpful.

Re: Jacking up mouse sensitivity
Many people have indicated that the in-game mouse sensitivity slider isn't much use on the OS X builds.  And it does leave something to be desired.  Plans are already in the works to fix that though, but not until the new pilot file code.

freespace isnt an fps, there are actually physics considerations to take into account. you can move your mouse as much as you want and your ship will only turn at its max rate. a wing commander style control would work better and iirc, its planned.

Re: Jacking up mouse sensitivity
eew no.  please make that optional.

i have a nice logitech mx512, so i can jack my sensitivity, but it didnt used to be so easy, even with it on max, so maybe adjusting the slider's range for a higher max sensitivity would be nice.

The problem is the fact that it isn't turning at its max rate. The fact is it turns at a maximum of about half its rate, which doesn't help at all, especially when you're piloting a normally maneuverable ship and find yourself suddenly unable to turn fast enough to aim at Ursas.
