I know that MT has basically a foot in the grave, but just curious what the original intention and ambitions were for MT?
I.E what was the plotline? What new ships were to be featured? New weapons?

The GTVA contacts the Shivans through ETAK and there's no fighting, until something descends from the heavens... Chuck Norris. The entire Shivan fleet is shattered and only 1 Terran pilot is left... How can 1 man defeat the power of Chuck Norris?

No, the pilot is actually a bunch of pilots in one fighter - Gandalf the Grey and Gandalf the White and Monty Python and the Holy Grail's Black Knight, Benito Mussolini and the Blue Meanie and Cowboy Curtis and Jambi the Genie, Robocop, the Terminator, Captain Kirk and Darth Vader, Lo Pan, Superman, every single Power Ranger, Bill S. Preston and Theodore Logan, Spock, the Rock, Doc Ock, and Hulk Hogan

But they didn't come out of nowhere lightning fast and they didn't kick Chuck Norris in his cowboy ass because this is FreeSpace. And FreeSpace obeys all the laws of physics (including the theoretical ones, even when they contradict each other).

Except gravity (unless you set that in FRED, but it doesn't come standard in the campaign), the laws of motion (you shouldn't slow down unless you press the slow down button) and the physics of space and time (subspace nodes? Seriously?)
