Re: Relic mini-campaign uploaded
You're welcome Slasher. I really like the X3 feel I get from mission 2. Well executed. . . .

Except I can't seem to trigger me. I don't say a thing.
Spoiler:
Hadrius right?

I admit I even took a peek in Fred albeit briefly. I have to scan somethings without getting the escorts hostile right? I get a slight telling off then the escorts follow me instead. . . . Did I cock up?

Additional edit-

I managed to finish it. I didn't get time to read all the fighter logs. But I did enjoy the final mission. The 'press 2' mission ;)

Re: Relic mini-campaign uploaded
I was going to hide the outtakes as an easter egg somewhere in the campaign but eventually decided they fit best in the credits. :D

As for getting the Centauri official (you) on the Hadrius to make contact with the player:

1.) Scan any of the Centauri cargo pods.
2.) Get away before the patrols are asked to "escort" you away, or
3.) Without shooting at the Centauri fighters yourself, lure them over to the Narn (Ja'tan wing) on the other side of the station to get them off your back.

If shuttle Hadrius hasn't launched at that point, it will soon.  Provided you haven't spilled any Centauri blood yourself and you aren't actively engaged in hostilities with one of the factions at the station (the Narn, security, somebody else...), the guy on the Hadrius will contact you.

I forgot Ker.Soth asked if Alpha is guardianed in the last mission.  Alpha is actually protected or made invulnerable at some point in every mission except the third.  Good catch!

Re: Relic mini-campaign uploaded
One thing i really love is figuring out new ways to criple capships :) one of my solutions to the fourth mission was

Spoiler:
Load up alpha 2-3-4 with 60mm guns and send them off to take out Fates and Insmouth's front weapons early on, while i was safely behind in the badger equiped with dual 40mm pulse that can blow up the other badgers and the dropships in a blink of an eye. A badger with double 40mm is LETHAL and the firing arc is just ridiculous :) It's also enough to take out the Midwinter's guns relatively easy so i didnt have to call them back and forth. I'm still itchy to test out them taking out the engines

That's when i noticed Alpha's survivability was somewhat...suspicious :P. Nah, they're just awesome pilots.

I saw this on youtube it looked nice. Never did get around to putting beefier guns on the Valkyrie. Originally it was supposed to have a mini gun. Beautiful ship I modeled it from photos of the B5 Wars table top strategy game models. Reminds me of the ALIENS drop ship.

Yes and yes.  Inferno build is included in Zathras.
No-one ever listens to Zathras. Quite mad, they say. It is good that Zathras does not mind. He's even grown to like it. Oh yes. -Zathras

I had a problem with jumping out at the end of mission 2.  I completed all the objectives, but alt-j would not allow me to warpout even after shuttle Routine had jumped out.  What's going on with this?
The Babylon Project was our last, best hope for peace.  It failed...

No no!  I love the mod!  That's just what Commander Ivanova says at the beginning of B5 season 3.

I figured it out when I went into the mission file that you have to be close to the shuttle in order to be able to jump out at the end of it.

All in all, a great mini campaign with an amazing four missions entirely unlike any I've played to date.  Great story, great characters, great originality.  This mod epitomizes how FSOpen ought to be used.  Good work, 10/10.

New version uploaded for testing purposes.  See the first post of the thread for details.  If there aren't any complaints I'll consider this one the official new version this weekend and post a list of the achievements.  Will be nice to be done with this so I can return attention to the other campaign and its assets.

Yeah, all the original voice overs are still there.  Nothing changed along those lines.

Re: Relic mini-campaign uploaded
Okay, although I'm a newbie to TBP and to space combat simulators in the first place I played two thirds of all campaigns out there on easy without many problems, and I still can't finish the first one of Relic without cheating. Either I'm missing out of something about missile use or otherwise this mission is too hard on easy!

Also I noticed that while the first destroyed transport triggered a number countdown, the other ones didn't do this, so I was wondering whether I was destroying the right ships when suddenly the objective was met. After that I didn't know what to do so I just jumped out near Xerxes. You should add another objective for this...

I couldn't finish the second mission yesterday because I was interrupted, but again right from the start I didn't know what to do because the objective was unclear. In all the missions I've played waypoints were either those big green visible objects or invisible green symbols in the target window. With this mission I got neither and only after scanning some pods discovered what was intended to happen. You should change the objective to something like "Scan any interesting cargo" or something instead of pointing to not existing waypoints.

Last not least I think I know why people have problems with your keys. You mention the key names for functions that you use but other people have other configs. E.g. pressing SPACE doesn't skip the cutscenes on my system, but using SECONDADY FIRE IIRC does. The same goes for the waypoint objecyive "Press alt-j". This does nothing for me, I have rebound targeting to something else. If that's what this is supposed to be.

Re: Relic mini-campaign uploaded
Here's a hint for the first two missions: a more nuanced approach is probably warranted.  Blasting everything in sight without thinking about what you're actually shooting at, or what's inside what you're shooting at, is a quick way to ramp up the difficulty for yourself. :)

Also, the directives on the left side of the screen tell you what keys you need to press to bring up waypoints on the HUD, though this will differ if you changed the binding.

Fear not, the last two missions are much more in line with traditional FreeSpace gameplay.  Scanning stuff before you blow it up is a good way to avoid frustration in the first two missions, but if blasting things left and right is more your thing you'll definitely be more at home in the second half of the campaign. :)

I followed the orders until Merilyne had docked, afterwards I tried to get rid of the escort as suggested but failed. If I really need to take them out using the tankers, I must try that again. But what about the number of to-be-destroyed ships not being lowered? Shouldn't this happen for each of the tankers too? If other ships are marked, why did the objective fullfill itself suddenly? What about a "Get near Xerxes and jump" objective?

That's what I meant. Mentioning keys that are prone to be rebound is not a good idea. So either replace them with function keys, like a lot of other missions do, or just reword the objectives like e.g. "Scan any cargo". The same goes for the SPACE key to skip cutscenes. If you use SECONDARY FIRE, please state so on screen :)!

After I ignored the missing waypoints I started the second mission fine by drawing the Narn fighters to the Centauri thus getting their lasers and the mission from the Centauri trader too. Then I was interrupted and had to stop playing. I will try to replay it this evening...

Re: Relic mini-campaign uploaded
You can beat the first mission be either blowing everything up, or by scanning objectives and limiting your fire to those that contain weapons or spare parts.  In the briefing it says something like "blow up X number of targets" where X is the number of targets that need to be destroyed.  X is the minimum number that need to be destroyed; if you shoot stuff without scanning it then you can't tell if you're actually blowing up what needs to be blown up.  As such, you have to do things the other way and just blow everything up.  Once that's done, you'll get a message telling you to RTB.  If you did things the easy way, you'll get a directive that says "Return to Xerxes." :)

And yes, use the tankers to your advantage.  I doubt even on Very Easy you stand a good chance against 6 Starfuries in that tugboat.

Good advice about the key binds - I didn't know remapping was so prevalent!  I always thought the engine compensated for key mapping, but I guess it's not there yet. :(
