Yeah im not Overly Keen on em either but ive been turning out a loada renders for the B5 Mod and needed a break and ran that off in about 3 mins

I would have thought it would take longer, at least 15. It does only have one ship in it, but it still looks gorgeous.

How Tis Done
1) Load Orion Object into LW, target Camera onto Orion
2) Load Nebula and stars Object
3) Load Beam Object
4) set 2 point lights at scourse of beam, add 1 Fill Light and 1 Key Light
5) Test Render
6) Full Render

Yep, looks pretty good. Nothing overly special, though, for a Lightwave render.
