Yes, that's right. It's just like a bitmap - TGAs, PNGs, BMPs, they're all the same in that they store the value for each and every pixel. That's why they have uncompromised quality.

I managed to download it and view it in Photoshop. Don't know why it asks for a QuickTime plugin to view.

Anyway, the beams still look a bit raw. Not much difference from the earlier one.

I assume you mean the only capship in the pic (Theres three Starfuries). That ship is a Narn Dreadnought (I think it has a designation, but I can't remember it... Jabu you know your stuff - what is it?

Doesn't look to deadly because I don't see much anti-fighter weaponary on it. Someone please correct me because I believe I am wrong.

Narn G'Quan heavy cruiser.

Not the best of ships, it's got good antiship firepower but not the best antifighter.  But then again, it carries Frazis (Narn fighters)

I've allways liked the design, although looking again at it now- it looks kinda industrial... pieceds together (because of the engine housing and the main cannon housing). Not sleek and sexy like the Whitestar or Minbari warships...

Damn this thread grew... I was doing a big project for school, didn't really have time to check here.

No, I think I'll keep the beams the way they are. I still have to work at my beam technique, but I'm trying to make them look B5ey  

Yes, it's the Narn G'Quan Heavy Cruiser. Those beams are pretty powerful, and IMHO it's one of the best looking ships in the series. It combines the best of sleekness and industrial-type engines and front bit

Are you trying to them looking like the lasers that come out of the fronts of the Omega class? I'm not sure, just asking - they need to be slightly transparent and bright, right? Can you make objects transparent in Blender..?  

Oh and btw, I think I have to agree - IMHO, that is a very nice looking ship.

If your going to leave it as it is - can I suggest one thing? you add a little red glow to the hull around the front of the capship, as I think thered be at least a little reflection of a hull there...

Just add a red light source in front of the ship.   That is, if you can do it with Blender.

Actually, there's two small light sources there. I should probably make them brighter.

And that beam right now is made out of two tubes, an outer tube that is mostly transparent and an inner tube that should also be more transparent than it is now. This only comes out in the .tga version, as that jpeg is horrible quality...

Blender is better than most people think. It's got everything you need for rendering, except the ability to properly import textured meshes (will be fixed in next release, .lwo import will be added)

Oops - I see what you mean about the light sources (I can see the reflection on the forward steel piping things) But you should make that a bit brighter
