A Preview: Vassago's Dirge
If you've been around IRC then you know I'm working on some... campaign... with a Ravana and it does weird stuff...

Hey didn't your already make one like th-

NO, no I did not. In fact I bar you from ever mentioning it again. Anyway, it's been in the works since... well the first mission says it was created April 24th, 2009. I probably could have shown it off here earlier, but the last time I did that, the campaign died as I tried to make the last mission. Thankfully no one remembers it so I don't know why I'm mentioning that (and Snail, you don't count. You're a nobody)

But as I begin to get past the 2/3rds mark, I think I can actually finish it this time! So its time to show off some totally rad screenshots!

Before I do that, I'll bore you with some useless info: Shortly after the Sathanas is destroyed, the GTVA begins a mop-up operation to take care of the rest of the Shivan fleet that invaded Capella. One Ravana-class destroyer, the SD Vassago, begins an operation of its own. The GTVA must destroy the Vassago before the it destabilizes their hold on the nebula.

Fact: A few custom ships, like the GTC Cretheus and GTI Polaris
Fact: 6 playable missions + 3 half-playable missions (I feel they're more like interactive cutscenes)
Fact: Contains 130% of your daily beam intake
Fact: Lotta new music, no disco though
and Fact: I am looking for beta testers to help test and refine the campaign. Testers will be selected on a awesome and leet basis.

Anyway now I see you've skipped all that text and gone right for the screenshots. Enjoy!

Something tells me that this won't be...

Awesome! I'd prefer to play the finished product, so all I can do is say that I think you guys are awesum.

Anyway, I guess this is a remake of SoK. I see the last screenshot is of the Resheph trying to dock with the Ravana. Cool. :)

If you need a tester for the easier difficulties (VE and E), count me in. If you need a reason for my awesomeness: I've actually read through your test before I've checked the screenies! :P

Oh god you remember the names of the ships? Even I don't! But let me assure you, there will be no docking with Ravanas. FACT.

Also Fact: I am using Fury's AI Profiles. :)

Huzzah! Primary FREDding complete. Now I just have to deal with my beta testers nitpicking every little thing I've done. How dare they tell me my creations are not perfect!

To celebrate, have some new screenshots!

Also, I am looking for a proof reader to look over my text to correct bad grammar, spelling or even fairly bad dialog. I mean "Cretheus here. We're starting to read damage to our hull." How drab! One more beta tester wouldn't hurt either...

Vassago's Dirge: It's never epic enough

When I first test played Vassago my jaw dropped, what a opening. But then, Axem was like "I'm not pleased, how can we go back and make this even better?" and then the mission did not only had an awesome opening but also an awesome ending. Cause that's how Axem rolls, Good just ain't Good enough.

And then he linked me to Shadow of the kraken

Looking very good, I can't wait  :D

Love the skybox in your first post's second picture - it's absolutely beautiful. Where is it meant to be?

The whole campaign takes place in Capella, so get used to the tan and red nebulae. :p The mission in the pic you're talking about takes place by the ring of a gas giant.

Does it involve Barney some how? :P
"The reason for this is that the original Fortran got so convoluted and extensive (10's of millions of lines of code) that no-one can actually figure out how it works, there's a massive project going on to decode the original Fortran and write a more modern system, but until then, the UK communication network is actually relying heavily on 35 year old Fortran that nobody understands." - Flipside
