Beautiful job. I particularly like the planets in the background, though the Gorgon in the background flying towards us (lower left) is glowing a little too much compared to the rest of them. Reduce the glow radius and you'll be fine   Care to make us a high-res jpg?

I was slightly interested by the moon in the middle-ground. There's that gas-giant in the background, but that moon has so much detail I can barely tell where it belongs. Still nice though

Wow dude - you've definitely got some skillz there! My only complaint is the resolution (1024x768 so it can be my background please) and that everything seems a bit to bunched together, but apart from that it looks awesome!

The planets were originally Dark made, with some tweaks by yours truly.

No bump-mapping or rendering at all, it's all photoshop and FS view.  

As for some of the glows looking uneven, that is due to the .gif compression.

I do have a 1024x768 original on my hard drive in .bmp format. I'll use a different .jpeg compression and get a copy of the image that is an acceptable size and without heavy color bleeding when I have the spare time.

Your kidding right - there must be bump-mapping there... look at the Cain nearest the picture... Unless theres some feature of Photoshop that I dont know about?

Nice picture!!   Especially the Shivan Cain-class cruisers. I think there's definitely bump mapping there.

All I did was some light tweaking as well as sharpening the image. No bump maps, period.

Sharpening would probably cause the effect.
