You'll have to learn the interface and functions of 3DS first while we get the ******** done.

3DS = 3D Studio

Max = 3D Studio Max

I may be wrong but I think there are two versions.

Whenever I say 3DS I mean 3DSMax - that way I don't get them confused with Max Sterling. I always thought there was only one version

I'm not sure. In school, I learnt 3D Studio Max then later Maya. maya is way easier to use but supports very limited formats to export as.
