Mission 5: Distress Theseus Exploding Glitch
Greetings all. Loving this mod, however I am experiencing an issue in Mission 5. After all the Raiders have been destroyed, and the Colonial convoy has been escorted to the Sebezeus, Theseus is supposed to FTL in, at which point you're ordered to RTB. Unfortunately, every time the Theseus jumps in, it promptly explodes. I've been killed by the blast wave if I happen to be close enough. Already tried the fix suggested in this thread:

to no avail. It seems like something is triggering this event to happen, but I have no idea what. I've installed the Diaspora_R1_Patch_1.0.2.exe patch, still no change. Any help would be appreciated!

Wait, 1.0.2? Diaspora is currently sitting at 1.1.1 I believe. You can try that for a start.

Just tried that, and Theseus still explodes upon jumping in. I'm at a standstill. I can still fly around, but no other raiders spawn, and the objective updates to 'enter flightpod'. I've even tried that, although landing a Viper in a spinning piece of wreckage doesn't end well...not sure what to do.

Please generate & post an fs2_open.log file.  Instructions on how to do so can be found in this post.

The tl;dr is, select the appropriate debug build in the launcher, run it until the problem (Theseus exploding) occurs, quit, find the fs2_open.log (usually in the \data\ subfolder of the game), and post that here.

If you can't find the log file after generating it, search for it using Everything.

I clicked no to continue loading the mission, but the game then froze while loading, had to kill it. I've included the FS2 Log it generated, hope this helps.

Unfortunately FSO will look like it's frozen when it's loading models, and that's where the log  stops.  You might need to let it load for even longer, maybe 15 mins? The Sobek/Theseus is one of the most detailed models in any FSO-based game/mod, so it takes a particularly long time to load, especially in debug.

I doubt a debug log is going to help to be honest. This sounds much more like a mission bug than one with the engine.

I haven't got time to look at the mission in detail now but it sounds like the Theseus is being set to 0 hitpoints as soon as it jumps in. When I get back in a couple of hours I'll make a version of the mission which solves the issue (and perhaps a version which allows me to check if this is indeed the issue).

Okay, I suspect I know what is going on here. Did you skip the optional mission where you have to rescue Obit after his fighter blows up? Cause if the Theseus was on very low hull already when that happened, you could end up with a situation where the Theseus jumps in and then is immediately set to less than 0% hitpoints (in which case it would immediately blow up).

Can you please place this file in your Diaspora/data/missions folder (You might need to create the missions folder if you don't have one) and then play the game. The Theseus will still blow up but you'll find a file in Diaspora/Data called event.log. If you can get me that file, it should quickly prove or disprove my suspicion about what is going on and allow me to write a mission that will fix it.

Actually, on that mission, I alerted the Cylons and was directed to jump back to Theseus, but that explanation makes sense. I've got some things to do, but afterwards I'll run it again and post the results!
