Well, despite the lack of activity on the public forum... there is daily work being done on BtA. We are hoping to have something playable released Soon(tm).

What's the ship in the 3rd pic, between the Intrepid & the Arcadia? Just above the parked Chronos's (or however it is that you pluralise that!)

That's a modified GTM Florence from the original BP2, which is also a modified version of another ship on the Wiki that I can't remember the name of. MatthTheGeek could tell you.

I know ST:R is canon for BTA, but is BTA canon for ST:R? Will this affect Blue Planet and other campaigns that incorporate Silent Threat Reborn?

It is entirely up to these campaigns, not to BtA, to incorporate BtA canon or not.

Yes, I'm also a fan. I like how they bump up the yellows and blues without ever going into the Teal and Orange nightmare (http://theabyssgazes.blogspot.pt/2010/03/teal-and-orange-hollywood-please-stop.html).

Interestingly, orange/red are just the colors that happened to be the base of most canon missions in Antares. That's the only reason orange is a staple of BtA's palette.
Much of the design came from a similar problem that I remember HerraTohtori talking about for WiH's backgrounds. How do you take a campaign that takes place almost entirely in one system and make a background that does not get tedious and boring by the end of it? I'll wait for final judgement after our full release, but my solution was to create a nebula design that is unique enough to almost be able to recognize which way your are facing based on what part of the nebula is visible or not visible. I included several large unique 'streaks' and a few different styles. Then I used some Post Processing to help blend the background and scene together into an almost faded look since the story is takes place pre-FS2.
That was my thought process anyway.. dunno how much of that made it through or if it just happens to look nice. :)

nono, that "faded look" thought process is bang on. I see Vassago Dirge's influenced the mod in this respect, and I just think it's a great look.

Very nice indeed! My only concern though is the message box, are you sure putting it down there makes reading messages easier? Just asking. :)

Dude, WiH did it years ago, I think there's been enough feedback from players now to confirm that.

That and it's not the real message box, it's a secondary for special sekret things.

It's just so much more convenient to read dialogue there. I wish every campaign had that kind of modified HUD.

Yeah, I love the newer HUD code because you can do so much with it. Many of these gauges are used for several different purposes throughout the campaign, too. Also.. Training Messages are suuuuuuuper ugly. Which is the root reason why many of these gauges exist.
