Trouble with Mediavps/mod interactions?
Hello!

Last year I reinstalled the Freespace games, and with the help of the mods from this fantastic community I had a great time. I didn't really know what I was doing when I installed the Mediavps, but I trial-and-error'd my way through it eventually and got it working.

Today I decided to give some of the mods a shot, but I'm running into problems that I have no concept of how to resolve (me not smart computer man). Specifically, I tried installing Age of Aquarius through the fso installer, but it's throwing up this error:

2014 FSU MediaVPs: The file 'MV_Root.7z' could not be downloaded.

I gather this is because the mirrors are down, but I'm pretty certain I've already got all the newest mediavps installed - 3.6.12 - and they still function flawlessly with the Port and FS2. AoA will start, but then start fritzing after the first cutscene.

Here is the log file: http://pastebin.com/NHryZTwZ

Any help is hugely appreciated.

EDIT: Forgot to mention that selecting AoA in wxLauncher doesn't, in turn, select any of the other mods that I'd expect to see highlighted, like the Mediavps.

The 2014 MediaVPs are newer than the 3.6.12 MediaVPs. Blue Planet requires them instead of the 3.6.12 MediaVPs, which is why they aren't being highlighted in wxLauncher.

If the 2014 MediaVPs can't be downloaded (although the links the the release thread seem to be working for me right now), you could edit BP's mod.ini file to point to the 3.6.12 MediaVPs instead, but I don't recommend it.

<MageKing17> "There's probably a reason the code is the way it is" is a very dangerous line of thought. :P
<MageKing17> Because the "reason" often turns out to be "nobody noticed it was wrong".

Aha! That makes sense.

I'm not sure how I got the idea that the 3.6.12 was the newest. Feel a bit thick now.

Thank you!
