MediaVPs Changelog [A Heads-Up About How Mod Compatibility Will Be Affected]
This is a list of things changing between the previous MediaVPs (MediaVPs 2014) and the next MediaVPs (MediaVPs ????). We hope this will be a compromise with modders to ensure compatibility and/or help pinpoint possible issues. While we do test new assets thoroughly against the main FS2 campaign, it would be impossible for us to maintain compatibility with every mod ever made. We do try to make each new addition as 'drop and replace' as possible. However, sometimes it just requires that changes be made.

We hope this will be a compromise with modders to ensure compatibility and/or help pinpoint possible issues. While we do test new assets thoroughly against the main FS2 campaign, it would be impossible for us to maintain compatibility with every mod ever made. We do try to make each new addition as 'drop and replace' as possible. However, sometimes it just requires that changes be made.

The hope with this list is to give modders a nudge in the right direction in terms of checking for possible compatibility errors. We will help when we can as well. Visit us on IRC.

Other Info:

  • Glass.dds and GoldGlass.dds where changed to Glass-trans.dds and GoldGlass-trans.dds. NOTE: We've decided to keep glass.dds and goldglass.dds in the next release at least. But we do want to encourage the change to using -trans.
  • Related to glass.dds... the Herc now uses glass.dds instead of it's own texture, fighter06-03.dds. Currently fighter06-03.dds is deleted.
  • Currently the new HUD is controlled with mv_root-hdg.tbm. To alter this data you must also name your tbm to mv_root-hdg.tbm. This is likely to change.
  • Added primary weapon models for weapon select.
  • The Cyclops model has been renamed FROM 'belial.pof' to 'cyclops.pof' to match our newer model naming scheme. Be careful to check your tables because the Shivan turret Belial is now named 'belial.pof'.
