Hello friends, I am new to the forums but not new to the game. Played it when I was younger.
Just downloaded it off steam. didnt work. So i went to google and found the Manual way, which I did to the letter. And still doesnt work. A box appears telling me I have deleted the Vp files or its not in the right place.
Now im far from Very good at this kind of stuff.
I downloaded the Free space  2 Open installer. It made a folder and i used the Freespace2 folder in the steam under programs to copy from. it gets stuck on
MV_assets. Not sure what to do now?

help please.

You don't need to install any fancy stuff if all you want to do is play (no upgraded graphics, no new campaigns). All you need is a FreeSpace Open executable file.

Can you post a screenshot of all the files in your FS2 directory? That'll help us figure out what you've got and whether you can just start shooting Shivans right now.

IT FINALLY started to download what i said it wasn't. For now i just clicked basic set up. Does that include graphic updates? if not its okay.\
But what after finishing the regular game. I wanted to upgrade it, how would i go about doing such.

The graphical upgrades are called the 'MediaVPs', and they are included in the basic setup. You will need to activate them by using the Launcher. Its icon looks like a little tiger paw.

the internet just went out at 1.5 GB/1.9 GB on MV_ASSETS.
I got everything back up but its not going again.
restart the program?

I'm not sure how the installer handles interrupts.

its all done, it figured it out on its own.

Do i need to go and delete the files under Programs (x86)??
How do i start the game?
The icon on desktop still gives me the same message as before.

You should open up your FreeSpace folder and use the Launcher to select an executable (3.7.2 RC3) and then the MediaVPs graphical enhancements as a mod.

As you eventually found out, it does not get "stuck".  It's merely taking a long time to begin the download.  This will be improved in the near future.
