TAG-D Missile Capability
Hi,

I happen to come across a TAG-D Missile that was on the weapons technical database.

Can I know what is the missile for? And what are its capabilities? Perhaps is it for the TEVs to use for an unknown tactic?

It doesn't seem to work on any missions at all.
I'm a great collector of mods, 73 and counting! Ask me for the list.

Re: TAG-D Missile Capability
AFAIK,
Tag-D will spawn a subspace missile attack.

It will not. Quoth the bp-wep.tbm, "The TAG-D is a slimmed-down TAG-C variant with no provision for subspace missile spotting." It creates a level 3 tag effect, but has no SSM strike defined (like the retail TAG-C). However, this means it doesn't actually do anything; a level 3 tag effect can't actually be used for "regular" tag purposes (focusing friendly fire on that target), so without an SSM strike defined, it doesn't actually do anything when you hit an enemy with it.

EDIT: Well, actually, it does do something; it can set a ship's "first tagged" time (so it can trigger a has-been-tagged-delay SEXP, but not is-tagged).

schrödinbug (noun) - a bug that manifests itself in running software after a programmer notices that the code should never have worked in the first place.

<MageKing17> "There's probably a reason the code is the way it is" is a very dangerous line of thought. :P
<MageKing17> Because the "reason" often turns out to be "nobody noticed it was wrong".
(the very next day)
<MageKing17> this ****ing code did it to me again

<MageKing17> Everything points to "this should work fine", and yet it's clearly not working.

<MageKing17> How did this code ever work in the first place!?

<MageKing17> It was all working perfectly until I actually tried it on an actual mission.
