"Ridiculous" problem
I tried to play the campaign "Ridiculous" on a nightly build recently (10918) and this error came up (when the first mission was loading) when trying both the 3612 and 2014 VPs:

messages.tbl(line 1152):
Error: Required token = [#End] or [$Name:], found [;; NO TARGET ..................................................].

ntdll.dll! ZwWaitForSingleObject + 21 bytes

Anyone have any suggestions?

I also tried "Ridiculous" on 3.7.2 RC3 and it didn't work on that.

However, I was able to get Ridiculous to work  but I had to go back to 3.7.0 to do so, so unfortunately it doesn't work on recent builds for some reason.

That would be because 3.7.0 was before certain fixes to the parsing engine. That exposes bugs that've been in the tables all along... specifically,

I haven't run into this problem with other campaigns, it just seems to be "Ridiculous" having this problem.

Is it fixable or do I have to wait for Ironbeer to come out with the new version he said he's doing?

Its fixable if you know a little modding/tabling.

Unfortunately I'm not that good at fixing technical things about Freespace like this.

There's no "tables" subfolder in my "Ridiculous" folder.

Here is where I downloaded the campaign from for what it's worth:

Hmm... that 1st quote looks suspiciously like a "smart-quote", maybe replacing that with a normal double quote will fix it?

edit: try the file I just attached.

Do I put this in the data/tables folder along with headdie's attached file or take his out and put yours in?

Replace headdie's file with the new one - I downloaded his file and made one change to it so it should have any fixes that he made to the table as well as the one I made.

Still errors happen.  It just seems with different 'lines' each time.   For some reason "Ridiculous" doesn't want to seem to work with builds post 3.7.0

Another pesky smart-quote is to blame so overwrite the other messages tables with the one attached - and this time I actually downloaded Ridiculous and confirmed that you can actually enter the 1st mission :)
