Crash at when playing First Blue Planet WiH 1 mission
So I'm trying to play BP: WiH 1 and it keeps crashing on the first mission. This is a fresh install of FSO and Blue Planet

Here is my fs2_open.log:

Code: [Select]
FreeSpace 2 Open version: 3.6.17.9481
Whoa now.

Code: [Select]
Found root pack 'D:\Games\Freespace 2\blueplanet2\Rak_Ultra.vp' with a checksum of 0x0ccbbc15
Found root pack 'D:\Games\Freespace 2\blueplanet2\SobekMod-FTW.vp' with a checksum of 0xcadfbfeb
What are these .vp files doing there?

Anyway, your Blue Planet/2014 MediaVPs' checksums look fine, you probably just need a more up-to-date version of FSO.

Re: Crash at when playing First Blue Planet WiH 1 mission
I ran it using the 3.6.17 bp exe that came with blue planet then changed to 3.7.2 rc4 when it crashed the first time.  I just moved those VPs back to the mvps folder where they belong

Code: [Select]
  -noparseerrors
Get rid of this parameter and try again.

In fact, while we're at it:
Code: [Select]
  -mipmap
  -old_collision
  -spec
  -glow
  -env
Get rid of these command-line options, too.

Now it crashes at the first error popup when launching after getting rid of those flags

Code: [Select]
ERROR: bp2-shp.tbm(line 284):
Error: Required token = [#End], [$Subsystem:] or [$Name], found [$Glowpoint overrides: ( "blue_glow4_small_40:1" )].
adv-bp2-cockpits.vp contains its own version of bp2-shp.tbm (why? good question). You either need to remove that .vp file, or extract bp2-shp.tbm from it, put it into /blueplanet2/data/tables/, and then remove or comment out every line starting with "$Glowpoint overrides:".

Yet another log!
https://www.dropbox.com/s/awb7krzlvs3qj2c/fs2_open%20%284%29.log?dl=0

It seems to be a problem with liberty.pof referencing turrets and subsystems that got removed or something

Code: [Select]
IBX-DEBUG => POF checksum: 0x0a026cfe, IBX checksum: 0x86a27584 -- "liberty.pof"
Mine looks like this:
Code: [Select]
IBX-DEBUG => POF checksum: 0x4db7e022, IBX checksum: 0x95017108 -- "liberty.pof"
It sounds like you have a loose liberty.pof for some reaso--
Code: [Select]
Searching root 'D:\Games\Freespace 2\blueplanet2\' ... 171 files
...That is a lot of loose files. What are they all?

A clean install should have no files in /blueplanet2/data/. You may want to delete/move everything except that table file I had you extract and modify earlier.

I'm 99% sure that all of this is already in the main MediaVPs, which would mean that you don't need these anymore.

Code: [Select]
Searching root 'D:\Games\Freespace 2\MediaVPs_2014\' ... 221 files
You've got lots of loose files there too.
