Title: Ancient-Shivan War and other campaigns
Post by: hxazgalor on February 28, 2017, 07:45:31 pm
Not sure if this is the place to post this, but I think it fits.

I'm looking to try out the Ancient-Shivan War mod, and over at FreeSpace Files I noticed there were a few different versions of the mod, some saying Full or just Act 1, etc. Which would be the final/upgraded version of that mod?

Also, are Homesick and Transcend both upgraded? I know the links to the existing files are around the forums (and I found them both), but I'm just wondering if there've been any upgrades to either campaign.

Thanks! :)

Best way to get ASW 1 and 2 is installer. :nervous:

If I still wish to manually install, which package should I download then? :nervous:

EDIT: I see it requires the older MediaVPs (3.6.12). Would it still work with the 2014 edition?

Try this (http://sectorgame.com/fsfiles/uploads/Projects%20-%20Campaigns%20-%20TCs/Campaigns/SCP%20Campaigns/Ancient-Shivan%20War%20%28Act%201%29.zip) and this (http://sectorgame.com/fsfiles/uploads/Projects%20-%20Campaigns%20-%20TCs/Campaigns/SCP%20Campaigns/Ancient-Shivan%20War%20%28Act%202%29.zip)
Maybe it will work if you edit mod.ini.

Thanks! Should they be compatible with the newer MediaVPs and FSO's 3.7.4 build? I'll give it a whirl in a bit and see how it goes.

UPDATE: Seems to work OK :D

I'm after the same thing. Just got the installer working but it says Download Failed when trying to get ASW and the two links are broken

EDIT: Disregard above. Cleaned up the directory...used to keep the MV VPs in the base folder along with the stock FS2s ones (never had any run issues I can recall like this). Stored them away and now the installer is getting ASW proper.

EDIT2: Okay disregard the 1st edit. It seemed to get working (I posted the 1st edit while it was downloading) and something went kaput and it failed...again. Wonder if it has to do with the Installer claiming I don't have a retail copy installed even though I do?

Please post your fs2_open.log file.  Instructions on how to do this can be found in this post.

Ah wait. Retry installer.

I've been running the installer repeatedly. I can see the individual parts trying to download then somewhere along the line they lines go from steadily filling with green to whiting out and saying "download failed".

I think it's partly a result of too much trying to download at once and it times out. My internet is FAR from the best since its MBB. One run (that failed) I got about 10% of the main ASW VP downloaded. Next attempt failed almost as soon as it started.

Trying the above links again to see if those work. Will see if those fail at all...like they sometimes do...but at least I have the option to continue instead of starting over with them. On the bigger ones anyway.

EDIT: Well those installed fine but it seems that the attempts at using the installer somehow screwed up the main directory since I can't run ANY mods now without it giving me gobs of errors. Going to have to start replacing everything with stashed download backups.
