I think I am well known. :nervous:
[22:29] <sigtau> Hello, #hard-light?  I'm trying to tell a girl she looks really good for someone who doesn't exercise.  How do I word that non-offensively?

Re: Do you think you are well known here?
I would... assume I am, but I click "don't know" cause, well... I don't.  :p

Only other people can tell you if you're well-known.

I've been around for 5 bloody years and I haven't been a complete lurker, so I assume so.

Re: Do you think you are well known here?
[shrug]  I rather doubt people recognize me.  I've been around for almost two years, but I tend to hold my tongue unless I've got a question or the discussion touches on something in which I'd consider myself well educated.  I'm honest enough to admit the latter doesn't happen all that often.

Well, I'll also speak up when I think someone really deserves kudos for something like releasing an awesome campaign.

If you are known as a douchebag, it tends to lead to the fact that you are known. Well known, even.
As for myself, I haven't got a clue. Most of the time it feels as if even I don't know myself.

Re: Do you think you are well known here?
Hohoho. It's another poll.

I have a question, though. Known, as in "If the HLP forumites were asked to name ten most known HLP members, I would be on that list" or, known as in "oh, it's that one again..."? So basically, difference between active and passive memory.

First - I highly doubt it. Second, more likely. So I voted "don't know". :p

I honestly don't know.  I move around the forums quite a bit.

This year, both Groundhog Day and the State of the Union Address occurred during the same week.  This is an ironic juxtaposition of events--one involves a meaningless ritual in which we look to a creature of little intelligence for prognostication, while the other involves a groundhog.

Pretty good... I recognized the names of everyone here except Dark_4ce and Trayus; I might have seen them before, but I can't be sure.  And, I post enough, and my signature is so long that it is impossible to look through the forums without running across it!  :p  I have a long tail.  XD

Don't draw too much attention to your tail, HLP has pruning shears, and they often don't use anaesthetic ;)

That said. at least in your defence most of the stuff in your sig is actually useful.

Re: Do you think you are well known here?
I think it's pretty fluid, it's really an Admin thing, not a Moderator one as such. Though I'll accept your argument that both Decker and Mobius really should try compacting their siggies a wee bit. Even ngtm1r and Tyrian have a bit of a weighty sig.

I think the general rule is 'Don't let your sig get longer than your average post.'

It's been argued that people can turn off signatures if they want to, but that means you lose the useful stuff like the links to Kara's FAQ as well as the quotes etc, personally, I'd much prefer if people moderated their own siggies than force Admin to go around pruning them and causing bad feeling.
