A possible reason why the shivans blew up the ancients.
SPOLER AHEAD! DO NOT CONTINUE BEFORE YOU HAVE COMPLETED THE CAMPAIGN OR ARE VERY VERY VERY SURE THAT YOU WANT TO KNOW HOW THE CAMPAIGN ENDS!!!!!

***SPOILERS!!!!***
At endprt2a.avi, Admiral Petrach says that (possibly) the Shivans destroyed the capella star to form a bridge between our galaxy, and their own.

What if the ancients somehow obliberated a former passage, sealing of a lot of Shivans from their homeworld. The Shivans off-course didn't like that, and (being very agressive) started blowing the ancients to very tiny bits. The Ancients didnt suspect this and were being completely overrun. The Shivans then searched the entire galaxy for a way back home, obliberating anything non-shivan thing they find, for they think it is ancient.

They came closer to a place where they could find a way home. However, after the attack at Ros 128, they encountered fierce resistance. These descendants were adapting and fighting back, again preventing them to reach their homeworlds. So, they tried to wipe them out, locating the homeworlds of these descendants and killing all live on it (vengeance). they faced another shock when one of their main ships, the krkrkrkr k klick r krr ktkrrk  (terrans call it the SD Lucifer) was destroyed by a few fighters. They called of their attacks and waited for the whole exodus fleet to come, since on of the systems of those descendants could be a key to their way home.

**32 years later**

The shivans were suprised that a terran ship was actually heading into territory previously hidden. That these descendants could find those things ment that they're mabye surviving ancients in those outer systems. The KRRKLRLKRRRRR (SD Ravana) was destroyed a few days later, and the Ancients' descendants started moving into the nabulea

The Shivans knew that they had to either find a way home, or nullify the threat completely.

They sent in one of their jaggernauts, and let her head for the capella star. In krrrrrrrrrrrst (Gamma Draconis) KRKRRKKKKRRRR (Terran Double-Ace and Lieutenant Junior Grade Joshua (promoted to lieutenant after that mission, and now Triple-Ace) destroyed the 4 forward beam cannons of the Sathanas, the Jaggernaut didn't need those things, as long they could open a way to the homeworld of the shivans everything would be fine. The shivans didn't count on the colussus however, and where oblibirated.

Then, desperate to find a way home, the shivans send their whole fleet in, and the terrans and vesudans retreated to their other systems, and managed to obliberate a jumphole to their way home.

At the endgame, the shivan jaggernauts activated their special weapon (a time accalerator?) and let the capella star change into a supernova.

No one can knows wat happened after then, but, a large supernova eventually becomes an black hole (in theory) and (in theory) 2 black holes form a wormhole, wich allows someone to cover enermous distance's... from one galaxy, to another.

Terran Lieutenant Joshua.

You really don't have to worry about spoilers, most everyone here has beat the campaign at least once.

And while the first part of what you said explains Bosch's thoughts pretty well (even though his thoughts were speculation), you leave out what the Ancients said in their cutscenes, namely, where they implied the Shivans were destroying them by either A) venturing into subspace, B) to curb  their aggression, or C) something else that I forgot :p.

Re: A possible reason why the shivans blew up the ancients.
A kinda creepy wat 2 look at the shivans, you shouldn't start to feel sorry 4 them! lol

He says thats a 'possibility' .

Maybe the shivans just like to watch suns explode. But seeing as how they sort of commenced subspace drive right at the capella star as it was going supernova, it seems strange. But no one knows for sure.

That reminds me of Babylon 5, looking at the fact that the First Ones that made everyone nearly got wiped out by one of their own creations.
Why do you make a race more powerful than yourself? :nervous:

Because you want them to do something you can't?

Turn around and kick your own ass?
First Ones make the Shadows, Vorlon and all that. :D
Shadows turn around and start whooping on the First Ones. :doubt:
First Ones have the Vorlons defend them. :doubt:

the creators don't create things more powerfull then themselves, but their creations make themself more powerfull then their creators.

It's worth remembering that the Gamma Draconis node was still open at that time and we have no idea where in the system that actually is. If it's one AU away from Capella that would have only given them 8 minutes to escape the system. But if it is as far from the star as say Pluto is from Sol they would have had a few hours to make good their escape.

The question has to be why some of the sath's didn't jump out :)

Re: A possible reason why the shivans blew up the ancients.
In actuality, the Capellan supernova was a disasterous attempt at advertisement by the Shivan Sloppy Suncream Company (who had previously endured criticism after their advertising roadshow dropped 12bn MJ of suntan cream samples onto Vasuda Prime, accidentally wiping out the population).

It was after this last mistake that the Shivan Sloppy Suncream Company decided the funny fleshy peoples of Galactic Sector 34-3-3-G9 probably weren't interested in buying energy based sun lotion - not least because they insisted on sending their own samples back in return to the Shivan Slo...oh, bugger it... SSSCs' freebies.

(it probably didn't help that Shivan xenothropologists decided the entire Terra-Vasudan war was a protracted negotiation for the purchase of aftersun)

On the contrary, the advertisement is soon to be an enormous success. When the light from the Capellan supernova reaches the Shivan homeworld, so too will the light of the many other stars sent supernova by the Sathanas fleet, coming together in the night sky to spell out "Buy Shivan Sloppy Suncream!".

Without a doubt, this has easily been the most extravagant and expensive advertising campaign since the annihilation of the entire Ancient species to the tagline "Buy Shivan Sloppy Suncream, 600 Billion dead Ancients can't be wrong!".
