How many ships does the UEF have left?
Hello people! While playing my 8th playthrough of Blue Planet, I started wondering one thing: the UEF's main logistical assets gets pulverized during Darkest Hour. There are countless UEF ships lost during the various missions (Ranvir, Akula, Yangtze, Vilnius, Katana, Altan Orde just to name a few). Considering that the UEF's fleet was never meant as an offensive fleet and more as a peacekeeping force, one is led to believe that they never had a particularly large fleet to begin with, and the war with the GTVA has only complicated things a lot.

How many capital ships (Karunas, Narayanas) does the UEF have left? All I know so far is that they still have:

- UED Toutatis (only committed if there is no other choice because of its importance and the likelyhood of a shock-jump attack)
- UED Eris (ditto)
- UED Solaris (ditto)
- UEF Indus
- UEF Masyaf (don't know if this one counts since it's Fedayeen)
- UEF Serenity
- UEF Vikrant
- UEF Toreador
- A few other cruisers

That...doesn't certainly make fighting on easier for the Federation, especially considering that replenishing those losses is very difficult/near impossible because of all the shipyards blown up. And I remember Laporte mentioning that Calder's fleet is "down to one destroyer and three frigates". We can't really count on the first fleet's ships either, since they're all busy working on Byrne's "master plan" either (unless Earth is attacked, in which case I hope they WILL be committed).

So, to be short now that the rant is over...how many UEF ships are left between 2nd and 3rd Fleet, approximately?

Re: How many ships does the UEF have left?
There should be a UEF Order of Battle somewhere on the BP forums, which should make it to answer your question. IIRC, 3rd fleet is basically reduced to the Toutatis, a pair of Narayanas, potentially the Serenity and a handful of cruisers & gunboats, while 1st Fleet is virtually intact.

EDIT - There it is: Forces deployed in the Sol Theater

Note that this is dated from before the battle of Artemis Station.

Thank you very much for the link  :)

Re: How many ships does the UEF have left?
Re the Masyaf, it doesn't 'count' because it's a pre-refit Narayana: it'd get gutted in seconds if it went up against the GTVA.
The good Christian should beware of mathematicians, and all those who make empty prophecies. The danger already exists that the mathematicians have made a covenant with the devil to darken the spirit and to confine man in the bonds of Hell.

There's also this:
http://hard-light.net/wiki/index.php/Blue_Planet_Orders_of_Battle#United_Earth_Federation

Should be pretty much the same, but gives you nice impression of what the terran half of the GTVA has deployed elsewhere.

Thank you so much for the list, Hellstryker, it is extremely appreciated. Though I seem to see a few ships which can actually be saved in the campaign, depending on the mission's outcome? I remember saving the Dea Icaunis when I fought Xinny, Zero and all the other aces. Regardless, this list is doubtlessly useful to glimpse at the greater picture.

Re: How many ships does the UEF have left?
This is a nice overview of the UEF (UEA to AdmiralRalood :p) forces in Sol. So to get a better overall picture in this thread, does anyone care to list the GTVA assets in Sol?
I do not feel... I think!

Re: How many ships does the UEF have left?
The list of fielded GTVA ships can be seen in the link provided in the first reply to my post, but here is it, just copy-pasted from the relevant thread. Re: How many ships does the UEF have left?
Funny question, but what's the status of the Bradbury fleet yards, where they built the Solaris-classes?? And will the UEF refit the Purusha classes for combat again, because the Purusha's tech data says they are currently inactive- not destroyed. quote ( Most hulls of the class were decommissioned and yarded in case of emergency reactivation).

Re: How many ships does the UEF have left?
I don't know about the Bradbury shipyards. I assume building another Solaris is out of the question due to either the destruction of a good half of the UEF's logistical assets, extreme cost of resources/time, or a combination of the two. As for the purusha, same as above. I don't know if the UEF is actually capable of retrofitting them now, with half of their shipyards destroyed.

Re: How many ships does the UEF have left?
The Bradbury Fleetyards have been blitzed by Steele as far as I'm aware.
But given the econimical situation of the UEF, reactivating the Purushas is not possible, one fiction entry told something about a economical collapse around six month in the future.
Besides, the ships would need dedicated fighter escorts and so on. I guess the Custos are far cheaper , while being lighter armed.
And then there is the Karuna Mk2...with the Indus heavily damaged, she would be a perfect ship to be upgraded, but I think someone stated, that the UEF can barely keep lighter damage within the fleets in check.

Re: How many ships does the UEF have left?
AFAIK the Bradbury yards are fine; Steele largely skipped over Mars to begin putting pressure directly on Earth. The war's currently in its final fortnight and the UEF's already against the ropes, so any outlandish logistical ploys like building another Solaris or refitting the entire Karuna fleet are completely out of the question. Shambhala is the unknown you should be thinking about here, but we know so little about it it's hard to really make predictions.
The good Christian should beware of mathematicians, and all those who make empty prophecies. The danger already exists that the mathematicians have made a covenant with the devil to darken the spirit and to confine man in the bonds of Hell.

If the real-life Mythological "Shambhala" is related in any way to the project First Fleet is working on, I think I have a couple of ideas about what would it entail  :p
