Title: Split from Hatshepsut
Post by: Galemp on November 24, 2009, 02:06:02 am
It'd be nice if he sent a backup for us to lock away in a vault, in case he gets hit by a bus or something.

Well clearly a project this big tends to end this way, with the author losing motivation. :( But I would have thought that if he had no intention of completing this then he would release what he has done so far.

Have some faith.

None this year's 11 - 13 or so HTL projects still haven't been finished, I don't think there's very much room for faith.

Have some faith.

Faith is for the blind!
We want results and insurances, especially of things that are awesome.

The Thoth and Tauret? I only know two that are actually finished.

I really don't care how long it takes, if it does come out, it will be soooo awesome. :D

Have some faith.

Faith is for the blind!

Faith is for the transient people.

(That's what's conveniently playig in Winamp right now)

Uh... most of peterv's HTL Vasudan fighters have been finished.
That still leaves the Zephyrus (by Enioch), the Argo (also by Enioch), the Boanerges (by AthlonBoy), the Poseidon (by BrotherByron, apparently blowfish was supposed to do this one but he got abducted by aliens), the Hippocrates (also by BrotherByron), the Charybdis (by Axem)...

At least the Cain and Colossus are still being worked on, the makers of these ones seem to have either disappeared or are too busy doing other unimportant stuff like having lives to be working on our HTL models.

And the Rakshasa, and I remember someone was working on converting HTL Arcadia parts to make them usable ingame, the Basilisk, the Manticore, the Hades, the Dragon, the Taurvi, the Azrael, and the Demon, which all have had some sort of update at one point in this year as well, but still have yet to be released.
So that's 18 ships.

There's also Esarai's Typhon.

Forgot about that, 19. :P
I think that one was turning out pretty well, I'd really like to see that one finished.

The Dragon was finished, in that it was released and is usable in-game, but it wasn't much of an improvement over the original model. No offense to esarai.

And the Typhon is teh smex.

Yes, Esarai has released his HTL Dragon, but it's a bit disappointing.
He said he'd like to remake it someday, it was one of his first HTLs.

Regardless, it's pretty clear that a huge amount of update potential has grinded to a halt.

TBH, in-game it looked utterly identical to the low-poly model.

For a lot of ships, especially fighters it is very hard to see them up close. Sure they look nice in screen shots and renders but a lot of the HTL fighters look very similar. IMO it is only the capships which really stand out, and are the ones which show why HTL upgrades are so very nice.

Because nobody's talking about the Hatshepsut, DUH!

Thread has become very off-topic. Methinks a lock may be in order (perhaps to be later unlocked at the request of ragingloli?)

I'd like to split but there's no common subject in these posts, it's just rambling. And I'd rather not just delete two pages of posts.

It could be called "Rambling about Unfinished HTL Ships."

Where'd it all go.............

Well I can't speak for the others but as far as my WIP models go, I can say lack of progress can be blamed mainly on having to venture into the unfamiliar processes of moving a model to game and the lack of time I've had to learn them before proceeding. Have patience all yee of little faith I still read the boards every couple of days.

Have you uploaded WIPs anywhere, in case of something bad?

Oh noes! Why would you release SketchUp files? I can't open those!  :(

No reason you can't. You could start with getting Sketchup.

Then all you need to do is export the model to Google earth format. (kmz)
Rename the .kmz to .zip and inside is the collada file.

Or you could do what Water said and open them up in something like Blender.

No, but he mentioned extracting a collada file. And one of the many programs able to import collada files is Blender, hence my mentioning it.
