Hello everyone,

I have a question for the authors of this very promising mod : what do you think about the licensing thread at http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php?topic=86975.0 ?

This is a rethorical question : I don't actually expect your answer here, but rather in the mentionned thread.

Thanks

Personally I don't care much about licensing and anything I do can be considered public domain, so whatever licence FotG will be released under will likely be up to the other team members.

That's good to know, but I think FotG should get all it's team members to discuss/decide publicly on ther licensing agreement to prevent cases where former members disappear and future modders not knowing whether it could be used.

I might have reason to use some of the music in projects of the get-paid-for variety at a later date so I'm not gonna public domain that, but obviously I'm not gonna sue someone for using it in their FotG campaign or whatever.  It'll probably be free to use with attribution in non-money-making projects or something along those lines.

For the rest of my work it'll just be whatever the general FotG license is.  I imagine that will be fairly permissive given that we are playing in someone else's universe and all.

Thanks swashmebuckle, this is indeed the kind of need I expected to see at some point.

This is a legitimate need and there are licences out there which seem to address it : see for example https://creativecommons.org/choose/
