I think you mean... background planet bitmaps.

For that, you NEED to have such a file, network full of such. in any case, you have to get the planet file in nice format... .dds for example.

Stuff your planet files into location \your_mod\data\effects

Later, you need a special table file to support your planet, it should be named something like yourmod-str.tbm in \your_mod\data\tables
inside you put something like this:

Code: [Select]
#begin
$Bitmap: yourplanetbitmap1
#end

...all.

P.S. I once said you should read the Wiki, and as i see, you haven't done this. Do it, it WILL help you answer a lot of questions.

Please post your fs2_open.log file.  Instructions on how to do this can be found in this post.

I can tell you right now that you're probably missing a major VP file (or it didn't download correctly, or something similar) to get that error.

That... is your "logs" folder from the FSO installer. That is not your fs2_open.log file. I'm really going to need you to read and understand this post for me to be able to help you.

We sorted it out on Skype, but so anyone else coming along later with a similar problem knows what happened: ASW couldn't find the 3.6.12 MediaVPs... in this case, because Starpler's 3.6.12 MediaVPs were in a folder named "mediavps_3.6.12" instead of "mediavps_3612".
