Hello, I am trying to run Blue Planet, but when I select the latest nightly build under FS2 Open executable, wxLauncher freezes. Selecting any build of 3.7.2 does not cause this issue. I have tried several nightly builds going back to June 2015 and experience the same problem. YAL also freezes in the same manner. Can someone please let me know what is going wrong?

What antivirus do you use? Antivirus often quarantine the exe the first time to test it when you first select it in the launcher (because the launcher has to run the exe once to retrieve its available command line flags). Let it run a few minutes and see if it unfreezes. This should only happen once for every new FSO exe.

Yeah, this is probably an antivirus issue.

Disabling my AV for 10 minutes did the trick, thanks for the help!

On my antivirus (Avast), I was able to exclude my Freespace and wxLauncher folders so it won't scan files from there on the first run.
