The topic is FreeSpace! I know the answer and I hope I remember it long enough to finish game #1.
Begin!

Question 1: What is the Belisarius?
-
Question 1: What is the Belisarius?
How about: Is it Shivan?
-
Does the GTVA survive Blue Planet: War in Heaven?

How about: Is it Shivan?
oh i was thinking of something else, sorry

How about: Is it Shivan?
No! 19 left.

Is it a fighter?
-
'Is it a ship' would be a better question, you want a binary search.
-
Is it found only in Freespace 2?
-
Is it a fighter?
No! 18!
Is it found only in Freespace 2?
Yes, to my knowledge it is not in any fan campaigns. 17!
-
Is it a ship?
-
Is it a ship?
Yes! 16!
-
Is it Vasudan?
-
Is it Vasudan?
No! 15!
-
Is it NTF?
-
Is it one of a kind? (as in not serialized built or class of ship like deimos and orions).
-
I feel like we can probably infer that the answer is 'yes' from the fact that every ship class from retail has appeared in a fanmade campaign.
-
Fairly sure the boadecia hasn't :V
Is it the Boadecia?
-
Is it NTF?
No! 14!
Is it one of a kind? (as in not serialized built or class of ship like deimos and orions).
It is a member of a class. 13!
Fairly sure the boadecia hasn't :V
Is it the Boadecia?
No! (the boaedicia was in derelict under another name, at least...) 12!
-
So it's probably a specific Terran GTVA warship, then. Was it a cruiser or corvette?
-
Does it have a fighter bay?
-
So it's probably a specific Terran GTVA warship, then. Was it a cruiser or corvette?
Yes! 11!
Does it have a fighter bay?
No! 10!

Is it sexy?

Is it sexy?
I think so. Yes. 9 left!
-
Was it one of the ships that made the final run to the Knossos?
-
Was it one of the ships that made the final run to the Knossos?
No, it was not part of the NTF's run to the Knossos. 8 left.
(If I misunderstood your question let me know.)

Does the player drive the ship during the main campaign?
-
Does the player drive the ship during the main campaign?
No, the player does not pilot this ship. 7 left.
-
Does it blow up in a mission where the player is present to witness it exploding?
-
Does it blow up in a mission where the player is present to witness it exploding?
It seems theoretically possible, but very unlikely.
Sometimes. 6 left!
-
Is the ship dying a fail condition for the mission in which it appears?
-
Is it the GTC Fortune?
-
Is the ship dying a fail condition for the mission in which it appears?
It is a partial and/or total fail condition. (I'll amend my 'very unlikely' answer above to just 'sometimes', since I don't actually have stats). 5 left!
Is it the GTC Fortune?
No. 4 left! I will give you guys credit for a question if you feel my answer to "Does it blow up in a mission where the player is present to witness it exploding?" was inadequate.
-
I'd like to spend a question to ask: Of a primary objective, secondary objective, or bonus objective, which of them is the ship's survival as a goal?
-
I'd like to spend a question to ask: Of a primary objective, secondary objective, or bonus objective, which of them is the ship's survival as a goal?
Technically I should probably reject this and require it be asked as "Is the ship's survival a primary objective?"
I will answer it as precisely as I can:
The ship is not listed in any of the mission's objectives.
However, because mission objectives do not determine whether or not you can proceed in the campaign, see
[losing the ship] is a partial and/or total fail condition.

No. Two questions left.

Does it appear in a mission where the Colossus is present at any time?

Yes. One left!

You gotta guess it on the next question.

Is it the GTCv Monitor?
-
Is it the GTCv Monitor?
With zero questions left, you...
got it!
-
All right, the new topic is again "FreeSpace!" It could be anything, anything at all, related to FreeSpace!
(i'll decide what the answer actually is by the time I wake up)
-
Is General Battuta related to it?
-
Is it a person?
-
page 2 made me realise how chess players felt in the chess thread
-
I guessed it, cannot believe it!
This made me really happy for some bizarre reason :D
-
Is it Retail only? (That ought to clear a good amount of stuff)
-
Is it sexy?
-
Is General Battuta related to it?
No. 19!
Is it a person?
Yes. 18!
Is it Retail only? (That ought to clear a good amount of stuff)
Yes. 17!
Is it sexy?
Kinda cute imo. 16!

No! 15!

Are they human?

Are they human?
Yes. 14.

Did they appear exclusively in a multiplayer campaign (counting Operation Templar as multiplayer)?
-
Did they appear exclusively in a multiplayer campaign (counting Operation Templar as multiplayer)?
No, they do not appear exclusively in a multiplayer campaign. 13!
-
Did they have a speaking role?
-
Did they have a speaking role?
No, they do not speak in a FreeSpace game. 12!
-
Do they fly a fighter?
-
Are they mentioned in any of the documents in the techroom?
-
I'm wondering how my opinions might have changed of Battuta had he said the person is cute and then followed up with them not being human... :p
That would limit it to him having either a zod or shivan infatuation...
-
Is it the dead Hercules pilot from the intro cutscene?
-
Are they in a cutscene?
-
Do they fly a fighter?
They almost certainly did. 11!
Are they mentioned in any of the documents in the techroom?
They are mentioned in a document in the techroom. 10!
Is it the dead Hercules pilot from the intro cutscene?
Awesome guess, but no! 9!
Are they in a cutscene?
They are not. 8!

I...must resist posting...shivan34elite...
-
Do they have a name?
-
Do they have a name?
Yes, they have a name. 7 left!
-
Do they appear in a post-Capella mod?
That's an interesting question. I said earlier that the answer is retail only. That is true: the answer is only related to retail.
However, I think it is important to note that they do appear, in a sense, in a post-Capella mod. This gets into some funny hair-splitting ontology, so I'm trying to respond in the way that gives the most information.
6 left! I'm rooting for uuuuuu
-
Who is Captain Esmar Al'Faddil?
-
Who is Captain Esmar Al'Faddil?
Nope. 5 left.
-
The answer has nothing to do with General Battuta.
The answer is retail only, but appears, in a sense, in a post-Capella mod. (It's hard to explain this with yes/no). They almost certainly flew a fighter.
The answer is NOT a character from the FS2 campaign. They do NOT appear in a cutscene. They do NOT have a speaking role, and they do NOT appear exclusively in a multiplayer campaign.
They are not the dead Herc pilot from the FS2 intro, and they are not Esmar al'Faddil.
The answer has a name. The answer is mentioned in a document in the techroom.
The answer is a human person who's kinda cute in my opinion.
-
I was going to guess Mina Hargrove but then I remembered she speaks in the briefings.
reiterate that i call bagsy on next 20 questions
-
Is it the player?
-
Is it the player?
Oh, that's an interesting guess! No. 4 left.
-
So, about that mention in a tech room document... Is it a document from Freespace 1?
Who is Captain Esmar Al'Faddil?
Who is Al'Fadil? I mean, either there is something wrong with this question, or with Battuta's response...
Al'Fadil has voice acted lines, though...
-
the number of people mentioned by name in the techroom in either game has to be pretty slim, and the number who aren't then also in the campaign slimmer still
(al'faddil is your commander for much of Age of Aquarius)
-
Who is Captain Esmar Al'Faddil?

So, about that mention in a tech room document... Is it a document from Freespace 1?
Yes, the answer is mentioned in a document in both the FS1 and FS2 techrooms. 3 left.
Boy, FS1 does have awesome credits music.

Does anyone else want to run the next round?

I'll be honest, this one was stupid. Also I called it like almost 2h ago on IRC and thought it was too stupid to ask. Funnest time were had.
I'm am so up for the next one.

Does the answer appear in canonical FreeSpace fiction (excluding those weird FS1 short stories)?
e: fiction includes all mission dialog, briefings, fiction material in the techroom, etc etc
-
Yes!
-
Yes!
****, I should have optimized that with an 'only'.
Is the answer an object made of matter? Including diffuse clouds and energized plasmas.
-
No!
-
Okay, so that rules out all ships, all? weapons, and all characters. We should be down to a pretty small search space!
Is the non-material answer created by artificial means (such as a government, a law, or a language)?
This excludes natural forces accessed by artificial means, like subspace.
-
Yes.
-
So we're on artificially created, non-material, canonical stuff. The search space still includes **** like historical events.
Knowing phoover I was suspicious it'd be an abstract concept, but it could be anything from "the Vasudan language" to "the year 2367."

That would be an ecumenical— I mean, 17!

Is it first mentioned during FreeSpace 2?

That would be an ecumenical— I mean, 17!
I haven't watched that in a while... maybe I should.
-
Is it first mentioned during FreeSpace 2?
No.
-
Is it an historical event. Gonna need to narrow down a bit here, and god knows there are plenty of named battles and stuff in FS1.
-
No. 15!

Does it predate T-V contact?
it being the artificial, non-physical, pre-FS2 not-a-historical-event construct we're after.

Yes. 14.

-
Since there isn't a topic, is it Freespace-related? :V
-
Yes. I'm going to offer you this one free because I think we should keep this topic at least FS-related (it's vague enough anyway to keep things interesting)
-
Does it appear only in canonical FreeSpace story material?
-
Nope. 19.
-
Hate to rehash questions, but it's such a good one logically:
Is it made of matter?
-
Nope. 18.
EDIT: Sleep time, you better have some question for me when I wake up!
-
Not made of matter and not FS canonical.
Is it from the Post-Capella era?
-
not FS canonical
"doesn't appear exclusively in canonical FS story material" != "not canon"
-
My question was actually kind of stupid and useless, since basically everything that appears in FS2 also appears in some non-canon story.
-
Is it sexy?
-
Is it a fan-made mod of any type?

Is it from the Post-Capella era?
It is not! 17

Does it have a hosted projects forum on HLP?

It doesn't! 12

Is it canonical in Blue Planet?

Is it canonical in Blue Planet?
If this answers true, then the next logical guess would be: What is Vassago's Dirge
-
****, of course, STR is already eliminated.
-
Transcend tho
-
lol (sync too then)
-
Is it canonical in Blue Planet?
It isn't part of BP canon. 11
-
Does Axem have a badge for it?
-
Since that answer is covered by the hosted projects question, I'm not going to answer or count a question for that one. 11
-
This is a brilliant idea for a topic. :)
Is the campaign set in the Freespace timeline?
http://www.hard-light.net/wiki/index.php/Timeline
-
It is. 10
-
Does it use the Freespace Port?
-
It does not. 9
-
It can't be Transcend, ST:R, or Vassago's Dirge. It probably can't be Derelict.
Does the player character speak?

Did the campaign break new ground or otherwise make an impact when it was released?
-
Does the player character speak?
Nope. 8
Did the campaign break new ground or otherwise make an impact when it was released?
Too vague and subjective to answer, especially in a yes/no question. Feel free to provide an answer yourself when the game's over. 8

Is the campaign longer than nine missions?

It is! 7

Matth: is the answer on this campaign list http://www.hard-light.net/wiki/index.php/Campaign_List
Ha ha, we think alike. I've been looking there too and the only one I can find that might fit the bill is Crossing the Styx. I was going to ask if anyone's played it too. :)
-
Summary - The campaign is set on the Freespace timeline but not post capella and doesn't use the Freespace Port. So likely in or not long before Freespace 2.
It is not a hosted project.
It is not incorporated into the canon of Blue Planet.
Silent player protagonist.
Greater than 9 missions in length.
Was released in either 2009, 2011, 2013 or 2015

Check any guesses against this list.

Yes. 17.
Is it a ship?
No.

Is it a living thing, or at least arguably living.
-
No.

It's a material, non-living, non-ship thing.
e: that exists within canonical FreeSpace fiction
-
Is it sexy?
-
In a kind of melancholy way. 16, I'm not counting that as a question.
-
Is it something that was not created naturally?
-
Is it a weapon, perhaps?
Also, next question is on me! (Since I won't come early enough after this answer to say it)
-
No and no. 14.
-
Is it a celestial body, such as a star, nebula, planet, etc?
-
Yes. 13.

Patience Wardog. Don't ask a question when a question already awaiting an answer can potentially answer it.
Is it greater in size than an asteroid?
-
Yes. 12.
-
Is it a real life planet?
-
No. 11.
(In any case the only real-life planets in Freespace canon are those in Sol.)
-
Is it a star?

Yes. 10.

Is the star in Terran space?

Yes.

Yes. 7.

For reference.
-
Is the star located on that map?
-
Yes. 6.

Is it in the top left quarter of the map?

That limits us to: Alphard, Dubhe, Gamma Draconis, Sirius, Regulus, Polaris, Procyon, Mirfak and Adhara.
Is the system its located in controlled by the NTF during the rebellion?

Yeah, it's Dubhe.
Yay. *Victory music hits* :)

Oooh snap! Is made to destroy?
No. 11.

Hmmm. It appears in a canonical mission. It's not a ship, it's not natural, it's self-propelled, and it's not made to destroy. GTEP Hermes is the closest I can think of meeting these criteria, but that technically counts as a ship, I imagine...
Is it of Terran construction?

In this universe, not the FS universe. I'll give that as one question.
No.
[Edit] Are we sticking with the Freespace theme for good? Just wanna make sure!
Yep, in a sense! Sorta. Kinda.
18
-
Hold up. Could you clarify what you mean? Do you mean it is in our universe, not the Freespace universe, made of matter and not part of Freespace canon, yet Freespace related?
-
It is made of matter in our universe because bits on hard drives and solid state drives are made of matter, however it is not made of matter in the universe of FS
It's not part of FS canon.
It's FS related

Weeel, it's possible, but not likely. But I don't know enough about total conversions to give a straight y/n.
It is one of the sexiest things ever invented.
12.5.
-
"Is it a TC" can be answered pretty straightforwardly: does the mod in which it appears contain any assets from FS2 (including the MVPs)?
-
Is it part of a single specific mod you have in mind?
-
Part of a TC though. It's hard to say with what I have in mind.
No. 11.5

No. 11.499999999

Is the answer an organization of human beings, whether a pair of friends or a government?
I phrased this badly, since it's easy to see that as something physically real - is the answer a concept, idea, or emotion? Like "the GTVA" in the abstract, or 'love', or whatever?
-
To recap: It exists as matter in the universe we live in, specifically software. It does not exist in the FS universe. It is FS related. It is not HLP or another website. It is a part of a mod, which may or may not be a TC, though unlikely for it to be a TC, but not a specific mod. It's not FRED, and it's SUPER sexy.
-
Ohh I thought it was something that existed in the FS universe but wasn't physical.
Is it me
It is a part of a mod, which may or may not be a TC, though unlikely for it to be a TC, but not a specific mod.
Bwuhhhhhh what the heck does this mean
Is it an asset of some kind, whether a model, a sound file, an image?

Did Axem make it?
Okay just gunna give this as a freebie, Axem did not invent it, Axem has made quite a few of them however.
-
You will never get it, muahahaa!
-
Axem has made quite a few missions and scripts but also models.
.lua scripts are not a freespace 2 specific format though, and models could be considered a graphical enhancement of sort.

It's kind of hard to come up with a proper guess when some of these answers are kind of confusing if not borderline contradictions :p

For .49999 of a question, is the end user aware of the answer, or is it purely developer facing.

I did debate whether my custom text made it too obvious, but I also thought that changing it would be a dead giveaway.
Well, let's just go for it: I'm thinking of something related to Freespace.

Since you guys seem to really be struggling with this, here's a hint here at the end:
Is it the red recommendation text in the debriefings?
This is the closest any question has gotten to the right answer.

Is It: Words/the English language? Or is this not a valid answer as It's not specific to Freespace?

I consider it the latter and so you guys still have 1 question left.

Man, this is tough. I want to guess music, but I'm afraid to be the last one and get it wrong then feel dumb when it's something really obviously not that in retrospect. :T

I want to guess music
How would that be text-based?
-
Case in point, totally glossed over that one!
-
Man, this is tough. I want to guess music, but I'm afraid to be the last one and get it wrong then feel dumb when it's something really obviously not that in retrospect. :T
I'm thinking about the code itself or the text in mission notepad files but it's just not adding up right in my mind with the answers we've been given and I don't want to pull the trigger and get it wrong when I'm not sure and someone else might figure it out. And it isn't player kill count or score or statistics because that changes with each enemy ship killed by the player.

Himmm. . . Is It your CO's/briefing's Opinion of You/Alpha 1? (As expressed in text form)

Himmm. . . Is It your CO's/briefing's Opinion of You/Alpha 1?
If you mean the opinion itself, I direct you back to "text-based". If you mean "as expressed in text form", I direct you to:

Is it found elsewhere to these places?
Yes. 6.
and
Does it appear in every mission?
Hmm... it is not required to be in every mission, but it appears in most, if not all. 8.
(I do not think most missions show their opinion of the player.)
Come on, you guys, you're not out of this yet.

OK. I'm gonna think about what It's not.
It can't be "Press Alt-J to jump out" or the Traitor Debrief. because of Q7.
It can't be the help menu, because of "not interact-able with clicks"
It's not "plot eluding"
But you did say It was a reminder. . . huh.

No, its 36th vessel of its class, 9.
Edit: That above is an information from FD, no use searching Inferno for it. :D
-
Er... I'm not sure what you mean. Basically I was asking are you looking for a single named vessel or class of vessel. Eg. Taurus or Aten Cruiser. Could you clarify?
Can the ship be destroyed by every weapon that inflicts hull damage?
-
Er... I'm not sure what you mean. Basically I was asking are you looking for a single named vessel or class of vessel. Eg. Taurus or Aten Cruiser. Could you clarify?
Can the ship be destroyed by every weapon that inflicts hull damage?
If that's what you mean, than yes, it is a single named ship (such as GTD Galatea). But since I already answered that its not the only ship in its class, but rather a part of a class that features a lot of ships, it might help a bit.
And it cannot be destroyed by every weapon, 8.
-
Right, I'll leave this to the rest of you since I haven't played Inferno (Was under the impression it was coming "soon" the new Inferno, when I joined up so have been waiting for it. Now 56 months later it feels further away than it ever has...) and don't want to dig around and uncover spoilers.
GTVA. Big, specific capital ship, no fighter bay, numerous vessels in service. 8 questions left. Good luck. :)
-
Does it blow up in a mission where the player is there to see it blow up?

Is it a destroyer class?
-
Does it blow up in a mission where the player is there to see it blow up?
No, its destruction is quite possible, but it fails the mission.
Is it a destroyer class?
Its not a destroyer, 6.
-
Does it fight Shivans?
-
Does it fight Shivans?
No, it doesn't fight Shivans in any mission that it appears in. Only 5 questions remain.
-
Does it appear in more than one mission?
-
Does it appear in more than one mission?
Yes, it does, 4 remain. Come on, guys, its really easy to guess what ship that is now.
-
Inferno was like a decade or more ago, I don't remember ****.
-
Inferno, GTVA, capital vessel, multiple missions, single named ship, does not fight Shivans, no fighterbay.
...I got nothing here. It can't be the carrier. Gotta be some corvette but I don't remember any repeat offenders on that.
-
I would guess the GTI Melia (the Sol Gate), but that's one of a kind (and it turns out it has a fighterbay).
Looking through the INFR1 missions, the only candidate appears to be:
Is it the Carolina, GTCv Phobos class?
If that's correct, I get the next question.
-
Inferno was like a decade or more ago, I don't remember ****.
More like 13 years ago. This site probably has members younger than it.
-
Is it the Carolina, GTCv Phobos class?
You are....
Correct! It is the GTCv Carolina, GTCv Phobos-class corvette, serial number 13-36, Flagship of the 4th Battlegroup, 4th fleet, Delta Serpentis.
-
Excellent!
Okay, I am thinking of something FreeSpace-related.

No. (Good question, but I already said it doesn't exist before the events of Unification War.)
10 left.
-
Is it a real life person?
-
No. (Again, what real-life person exists during or after the events of UW? I suggest stepping back for a bit and letting some other people ask questions.)
9 left.
-
I don't know how we could come to know of a fictional person if we don't learn of it through a mod or campaign.
-
Which is why I suggested stepping back. There are other possibilities you may not have considered.
To recap: FreeSpace-related, non-canonical, made of matter, not related to FSPort or BP, exists before the events of the FS1 campaign but not before or during the events of UW, does not exist within a mod or campaign, and is a person.
9 questions left.
-
Let's think.
Does this person appear or is mentioned in any Freespace-related fanfiction text? I've read quite a few of those.
-
Now you're on the right track. Technically, yes.
8 left.
-
Good hits on the riddle, we're seeing armor fatigue.
Is this person Terran/human?
-
No.
7 left.
-
Was the person ever aboard the same vessel any Terran was on at the same time?
-
Unknown, and irrelevant. I won't charge you for that question.
-
Is it a Vasudan?
-
Yes, but that's a third unnecessary question that you've asked. (We already know that it's not Terran, and it precedes the FS1 main campaign, which rules out Shivans.)
6 left.
-
Well, there goes my candidate... (A Vasudan captured by Terran scouting vessel somewhere during late T-V war)
Is this person alive after Freespace 1 main campaign?
-
Highly unlikely, due to the glassing of Vasuda Prime, but we have no information either way.
I won't charge for that question either, since it can't be answered yes or no.
-
Is this person featured on bonus content included on a retail FS disk?
-
No.
5 left.
-
Is this Vasuden in a place of Political/Military power?

I would say no.
4 left.

Can information on this Vasuden be found in the FS1 or FS2 Techrooms?

Unnecessary question, since I already said it was non-canonical, but no.
3 left.
-
Was this Vasuden in a short story written by Clayton Emery/Simon Hawke/Brian M. Thomsen and that was published by Interplay?
(Sorry If I'm getting really specific here, I have someone in mind)

It won't be in any techroom btw since that would make it part of a mod/campaign.
-
Was this Vasuden in a short story written by Clayton Emery/Simon Hawke/Brian M. Thomsen and that was published by Interplay?
(Sorry If I'm getting really specific here, I have someone in mind)
I like the way you think, and I might have chosen Admiral Gar Tallanis in another game. But no, the Vasudan I'm thinking of does not appear in any short stories published by Interplay.
(I worry that my answer here (http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php?topic=92368.msg1826240#msg1826240) may have been misleading. The answer to MitoPL's question is only yes due to a technicality.)
2 left.
-
(Well, at least I can say I did my research, This is the Last guess I have)
Does this Vasuden appear In the "Tell a Story" thread?
(I only found out about Freespace 4-ish years ago; I can't say I'm familiar with VBB stuff, So even If the answer is "Yes", I couldn't answer beyond that)
-
No.

I'll tell you what, since people are having trouble with this one, I won't count the four unnecessary questions that were asked.

Yes, many Vasudans would find it sexy. Some Terrans too, apparently.

3 left.

Technically, the Egyptian names are Terran, that was my train of thought.
-
You are correct! It is Miss Vasuda Prime 2332 - Kho'bani Shekmet Nabubu IV.
Buff Skeleton is up next.
-
:wtf: How many Vasudans have a Terran name?
Following their Emperor's example, Vasudans will take on what they call a Terran name from the myths and history of Ancient Egypt.

A Vasudan non-combat ship, bigger than an escape pod, that appears in a nebula mission in FS2, and doesn't blow up.
Well, the Anuket never appears in a nebula mission, but a Setekh does: the GVA Junit in The Fog of War. And IIRC the Junit always escapes the area unscathed.
Given that it's not a single named ship, "GVA Junit" is not the answer. Is it the GVA Setekh?
Well I just got ninja'd by three posts. OneOneThree beat me to it, if he's correct.

Is it the Setekh AWACS?
I don't want to sound rude, but Don't all the AWACS's In FS2 have names?

No. And by campaign, I take it you mean cutscenes, briefings, debriefings, events, and dialogue?
10 left.
Just to recap, the object is a station, referred to in canon sources, that probably existed before the events of FS1 - although we can't be sure. It is not featured, mentioned, or referred to in either the FS1 or FS2 campaigns, but is featured in an FSPort campaign. It is not Tombaugh Station or the GTI Jotunheim.
-
Well, if it's canonical, that only leaves the original Silent Threat campaign (edit: or the FS Reference Bible (edit2: or, I guess, the Tech Room)).
Is it the Talus Mining Facility, aka the GTA Talus?

Oh damn I've got a good one.

Well, if it's canonical, that only leaves the original Silent Threat campaign (edit: or the FS Reference Bible (edit2: or, I guess, the Tech Room)).
Is it the Talus Mining Facility, aka the GTA Talus?
You're close enough that I'll take it. ST:R's Talus accelerator complex, based on a reference in the Helios bomb's tech description. There's the reason I couldn't outright say it was canon.
You guys decide who's next.
-
Ah, well, ST:R isn't canon, strictly speaking. It does appear in the original Silent Threat campaign, but ST calls it a mining facility while ST:R calls it a particle accelerator complex. The Helios description only says "particle accelerator complex near Antares". It's a happy coincidence that ST:R's Talus would fit that description. :)
EDIT: Oh, I see what you did there. "It's referred to in canon sources." (http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php?topic=92368.msg1826317#msg1826317) Tricky.
I'll pass my spot to Battuta. For Battuta: Is it canonical?
-
In case Battuta didn't see my edit, I'll post question #2: is it material?
-
Oh! ****!
Yes, canonical, yes, material.
-
Is it a person?
-
Yes, it is a person!
-
Do they appear in the FS2 campaign?
-
They do. For purposes of this answer I'll treat 'voice from a ship' as a separate character — for example Slaying Ravana Alpha 2 is distinct from The Romans Blunder Alpha 2. 16 left!
-
...Do they have a name?
-
Yes, they are named. 15.
I insist nobody cheat and start trawling files unless it gets desperate.
-
Do they speak during the gameplay portion of a mission (i.e. in-flight, not the briefing/command briefing/debriefing)?
-
They do! 14.
-
Do they speak in an SOC loop mission?
-
They do not. 13.
-
Is this person female?
-
They are not. 12.
-
Is this person Terran?
-
Yes. 11.
-
Ooh. I thought it might be Captain Forsythe of the GTCv Warspite, but she's female. (Or, at least, the comm officer is, which raises a good point...)
Is this person explicitly named, by himself or by another? E.g., does he say, "This is X" or does someone say, "X, tell me about Vasudans", where X is the person's name rather than the ship name.
I ask because although we know that Forsythe is the captain of the Warspite, we don't know if the Warspite speaker is the captain. Similarly, there have been in-mission messages from the Bastion not sent by Admiral Shima and in-mission messages from the Aquitaine not sent by Admiral Petrarch. But there have been in-mission messages from the Galatea sent by Admiral Wolf.
(EDIT: Well, the captain of the Warspite is male, according to the debriefing, so he's not the one speaking.)
-
Does this person speak during a nebula mission?
-
The answer speaks their own name. They do speak during a nebula mission.
9 left!
-
Is it Arthur Roemig?
-
Is it Arthur Roemig?
Your designation is incorrect, Axem. It's not Roemig. 8 left.
-
Are they the survivors of the crew of Iceni who we rescue during a mission in the nebula (retail FS2)?
-
Are they the survivors of the crew of Iceni who we rescue during a mission in the nebula (retail FS2)?
No, they are not the group of survivors. I won't count this though because we've established it's a single character.
-
The answer speaks their own name. They do speak during a nebula mission.
9 left!
Just to clarify: Alpha 3 Kappa 2 etc. don't count as "Their own name" right?
-
Are you asking whether the answer identifies themself by a callsign, or a personal name?
-
Are you asking whether the answer identifies themself by a callsign, or a personal name?
I would think that a callsign is out considering how Goober phrased his question. Your post is now confusing me even more :shaking:
-
You're right, sorry. My efforts to be less confusing are being more confusing. Yes, a personal name is used.
-
... Is it Lieutenant Rusk, the very distressed guy who appears during "Return to babel" onboard the NTF Iceni?
-
You got it! Take it away.
-
I am giving this one to MitoPL as they got it right in all but name.
-
Thank you very much!
So... What if I... Okay, I'm thinking about something Freespace-related.

Is it canonical?

Oh yes, it is canonical!
19 left.

No.
18.

Thank you very much!
So... What if I... Okay, I'm thinking about something Freespace-related.
(I'd hope so as it's in the general freespace discussion forum)
Is it sexy?
-
Is it mentioned in the command briefings / mission briefings / mission debriefings?
-
Is it sexy?
Yeah, it is!
17.
Is it mentioned in the command briefings / mission briefings / mission debriefings?
I don't remember all of the briefings and debriefings ever created in Freespace by both :v: and users, but I'm pretty sure it isn't.
So, no.
16.
-
Well yeah, I only was referring to the canon stuff since we established it's not user-made :)
Is it mentioned in any of the techroom info?
-
Yeah, it definitely is.
15.
-
Is it mentioned in the Intelligence section of the techroom in either Freespace 1 or 2?
-
Yes.
14.
-
Is it a historical event?
-
Nope.
13.
-
Is it a political construct, such as a treaty, governing body, or executive order?
-
Not even close...
13.
<I think I could start hinting this when about 5 questions are left...>
-
Is it an engine feature?
-
Yeah, it is.
12.
-
Is it mentioned in any of the techroom info?
Yeah, it definitely is.
15.
Is it an engine feature?
Yeah, it is.
12.
 An engine feature... that's mentioned in the techroom? Isn't that a bit meta?
-
Does it play a major role in the final mission against the Lucifer?
-
 An engine feature... that's mentioned in the techroom? Isn't that a bit meta?
I know, I would also be confused if I wouldn't know the answer... But yeah, it is both in the game engine and mentioned once in the Techroom.
Does it play a major role in the final mission against the Lucifer?
I don't want to say this... But no. :P
However, it is important for the mission to take place.
11.
To recall: a sexy, canonical and non-material... thing. Not mentioned in briefings and debriefings, but once in a document in the Intelligence section of Techroom. It is neither a historical event or political construct. However, it is featured in the game engine. It does not play a major role in the final mission against the Lucifer, but... it is related to the mission and also pretty important.
And I've never seen a sexy historical event/political construct... :wtf:
-
...Is it subspace jumps?
-
No. :P Jumps are mentioned more than once in the Techroom, and I believe you could find it mentioned in briefings/debriefings.
10.
-
And I've never seen a sexy historical event/political construct... :wtf:
The olympics during ancient greece are both sexy historical events and a political construct. Such was the importance of the games that wars were temporarily cancelled in favour of naked men frolicking in the fields.
-
It doesn't play a role in the final lucifer mission so subspace it isn't.
(Not a question)
Hmmmmm. ....... ...... ...... ...... ponder.
-
Jumps are mentioned more than once in the Techroom
Jump nodes are mentioned multiple times; jumps themselves are mentioned only in the "Subspace" entry.
But the reason I asked about subspace jumps is because there's nothing else mentioned in the intelligence section of the tech room in either FS1 or FS2 that I would classify as an engine feature (unless we get really general and go with "weapons", but I'm pretty sure weapons would count as "material" anyway).
-
-Joshua-, you are right there, didn't thought of that...
Colonol Dekker, a correction:Does it play a major role in the final mission against the Lucifer?
I don't want to say this... But no. :P
However, it is important for the mission to take place.
AdmiralRalwood, I was literal saying that *it* was mentioned only once. Jumps are mentioned multiple times in "Subspace" entry :P And since this entry is inside Intelligence section of Techroom, jumps are mentioned at least a couple of times in the Intelligence section. Well, got that a bit messed up.
-
Is it a fighter sized inter - system drive?
-
Nah.
9.
:P
-
Is it the 'subspace cataclysm' that severed the node?
Counts as sexy, doesn't it?
-
Is it the 'subspace cataclysm' that severed the node?
Counts as sexy, doesn't it?
I guess it counts as sexy, but how does it possibly count as an engine feature?
-
The same as for the fighter mounted intersystem jump drive: not featured in engine. Nope.
8.
-
lol, and here I thought "is it sexy" was exclusively a joke option
A sexy immaterial construct is gonna blow my mind
-
And what are people saying under new model releases? Of course "sexy" :P Now, I have actually seriously responded to that question thinking that the asking person had the word "cool" in mind
-
Is it subspace itself?
-
No, the answer is incorrect.
7.
-
Going to take 2 questions and leave.
First, probably wrong, is it the green glow of the Shivan ships caused by the disabled shields?
Second, a follow up on Goober's. Is it the subspace skybox?
-
Nah.
You guys are getting really creative! Lot more than I am ;)
Counting your post as one question - that means you've got 6 left!
-
I think this needs to knocked out first:
Is It subspace-related?
(If not, I think I know what It Is but I could still be wrong)
-
It is very subspace-related!
5.
(What if it wouldn't be?)
I should really go sleep about right now. See ya tomorrow!
-
Ahh, (My next Answer would have been Weapon Shockwaves) I thought about it, and they did actually meet up with the given criteria. . .They may be mentioned In more then one techroom page however.
For when you wake up: Is It the subspace entry/exit warp effect?
-
Is it shields?
It's only mentioned once in the intelligence things, it's definitely an engine feature. They *don't* work in subspace, which is vital as otherwise the final mission of FS1 could not take place to begin with, and they are related to subspace as evidenced by them not working whilst being in subspace.
They are also sexy :p (http://cliojournal.wikispaces.com/file/view/Hoplite_3_c.500_BC.jpg/245911591/Hoplite_3_c.500_BC.jpg)
However, I do think that they are mentioned in the FS1 briefings ocasionally but I'm banking on you not fully remembering everything (and heck, I don't either).
-
Is it subspace itself?
How is "subspace itself" an engine feature? Also, it would be very hard to argue that it doesn't play a major role in Good Luck. It's also mentioned way more than once in the intelligence section of the techroom.
Is it the subspace skybox?
:wtf:
Again:
It does not play a major role in the final mission against the Lucifer
(Not to mention that the skybox is never mentioned in the tech room.)
(My next Answer would have been Weapon Shockwaves) I thought about it, and they did actually meet up with the given criteria. . .They may be mentioned In more then one techroom page however.
They are not mentioned in the Intelligence section of the techroom at all.
Is it shields?
It's only mentioned once in the intelligence things
If by "once" you mean "three times", then yes.
EDIT: Is it the rendering of subspace nodes by the HUD as a green sphere?
-
How is "subspace itself" an engine feature? Also, it would be very hard to argue that it doesn't play a major role in Good Luck. It's also mentioned way more than once in the intelligence section of the techroom.
My reasoning was that it is an engine feature that you could set a flag in FRED to make the mission take place in subspace. And although the mission takes place in subspace and the shields are disabled by subspace (thus making it important), it doesn't otherwise affect the balance or gameplay.
As for how many times it's in the tech room, well, it's mentioned several times in briefings too. I thought MitoPL might have been referring to the phenomenon of subspace, rather than the fact that subspace jumps, nodes etc. are common.
But in summary, yes, that probably qualified as an unnecessary question on my part. :p
-
Is it IN-MISSION jumps?
-
Red alert carry status comes to mind as a discussion point prior to submitting an official question.
-
Is it IN-MISSION jumps?
How would that qualify as an engine feature when it has to be extensively faked with complicated eventing?
Red alert carry status comes to mind as a discussion point prior to submitting an official question.
And where is that mentioned in the tech room?
-
And that's why I didn't post it as a question.
-
For when you wake up: Is It the subspace entry/exit warp effect?
Well, that's close enough - it was the subspace vortex created with a subspace drive. It has its own effect in the engine, so...
-It is pretty cool, especially in latest Nightly FSO builds,
-canonical as much as spaceflight, also non-material,
-Mentioned only once in "Subspace" Intelligence entry, and never in mission briefings and debriefings,
-Without it nobody could enter subspace, thus it is pretty important in the Lucifer assault :P.
So it is both a game visual/audio effect, and a canonical phenomena needed to use even the most basic subspace drives.
A jump drive causes a ship to vibrate in multiple dimensions until its modulations are in perfect synchronization with the subspace continuum. A vortex opens, creating an aperture from an infinitesimally small point in the cosmos, enabling the vessel to cross the subspace threshold.
I am actually a bit suprised that nobody asked if it apperas or is mentioned in any missions.
Is it shields?
[...]
However, I do think that they are mentioned in the FS1 briefings ocasionally but I'm banking on you not fully remembering everything (and heck, I don't either).
At least several times: after the first player's encounter with the Shivans, after developing our own shields, after first sighting of the Lucy, and before Good Luck, I think.
So, well, I got this a bit complicated, but well: you often don't notice things that are directly in front of your nose :P
I'm actually happy you got the answer, I was starting to feel like an evil person...
-
(@MitoPL That was a good one)
So This means I get to go next? :D
If so, T-20 and counting.
-
Is it a non - strike craft?
-
I'm actually happy you got the answer, I was starting to feel like an evil person...
That just means you're doing your job right.
-
It Is not a strike craft.
T-19
-
Is it FS1 only?
-
Huh, Technically no as It does not appear In FS1 whatsoever.
T-18
EDIT: not :v: canonically In FS1 I should say.
-
Let me just ask the question which should probably be asked first: is it material? :P

YES! It is material!

I am suprised, that sounds a bit like Capella... :wtf:
Another question: Is it an object created by either Terrans or Vasudans?

Does it appear during any of the main campaigns and/or cutscenes?
Nope, not in any PURE Main :v: campaign or cutscene,
I am suprised, that sounds a bit like Capella... :wtf:
Another question: Is it an object created by either Terrans or Vasudans?
Well, anything can be a weapon If you use It wrongly/Irresponsibly enough :P
I like the way you think with Capella, but It's not that because:
Yes, It Is/was created by a Terran or Vasuden as far as we know. Terran more likely.
I don't want to sound misleading; but I also don't want to give anything away too quickly. :warp:

Huh, This thread has been rather quite lately.
So, to recap:
Q20: not a Strike craft
Q19: not exclusive to FS1
Q18: It Is material/object
Q17: not a ship
Q16: not a weapon
Q15: not In the cutscenes or PURE :v: campaigns
Q14: was made by a Terran. (as far as we know)

T-13 left! This Is not over yet!

Is it a material mentioned by name that is used in construction of ships, weapons, or other technology?
-
I think i *might* be onto something...
Is it ever mentioned in :v:-made campaigns (FS1, Silent Threat, FS2)? We already know that it doesn't appear in any, but it might be mentioned.
-

Not the case, But I'll give you that one for free.
Is it a material mentioned by name that is used in construction of ships, weapons, or other technology?
Now I'm starting to wish I picked something more complex, alas no; It Is not used In the construction of ships or weapons, I can't say what technology would use It, but It wouldn't be :v: nor practical for anything I would think.
EDIT: missed a point.
T-12
-
Can the material be found in asteroids/comets/space rocks or debris/space junk?
-
Really, anything could potentially be found in debris. :p
but for our purposes, I will say nay.
It's not mine-able If that's what you meant, (and if It's not what you meant, you get that for free)
T-11
-
I think the term "material" might be causing some confusion, I Edited an earlier post to reflect that It meant "a physical thing" as opposed to "a concept" or "energy based thing".
-
Nah, we're just trying to track down what it is.
As far as the space rocks, I wasn't just asking about the mineable stuff (metals, water, crystals), but also the "boring" materials such as ice, dust, and the rock itself.
-
ice, dust, and the rock itself.
I don't think that would make It Freespace-related though, no offense.
But I see where you are coming from.
This thread is getting slow now, Isn't It? On the 25th (5 days as of this post) I'll give the answer regardless.
but I'm more then certain someone will get It by then.
-
ice, dust, and the rock itself.
I don't think that would make It Freespace-related though, no offense.
Planets and moons are usually made out of rocks and dust. Some even have ice in the form of water! ;)
[Edit] Anyway, on to the next question. Is it featured or used in a total conversion mod?
-
Is it a living entity? (i.e. "created" by Terrans, "could" be used as a weapon, not very useful in construction)

hahaha, I like the way you think ;7 but no, It's not living, nor person or weaponized virus.

Not In any cutscenes, but It does appear in several mods. The emphasized part refers to what missions It's in, not cutscenes. sorry If I mistyped that. . . I would be REALLY easy to give It away If I was any more specific than that.

No. 4.
-
Its gotta be the Spomer then, I can't find any other transport. Am I right?
-
Or you might get tricky and consider Charon as a transport. (If you don't remember: the one GTS Centaur capturing Arjuna 1.)
The question is: does it appear in FS1 before the Shivans ever show up in a mission?
-
Its gotta be the Spomer then, I can't find any other transport. Am I right?
You win! :)
-
Hurray, now someone add Stern, Dobbs, and Spomer to the wiki, I had to search the campaign playthrough for them. Next round is on me, this'll be a difficult one!

Demon...
-
Come on guys, there's only about 20 canon Shivan non-rakshasa cruisers, take a guess.
-
A demon isn't a cruiser, afaik.
The only shivan cruiser that has never appeared in any nebula missions is the Lilith.
-
Keep in mind that its an individual ship withing its class, not a class itself.
-
Is it in freespace two exclusively?
i predict you'll try to pull a trick on me! also, cain or lilith, cain or lilith. once that's done we can have enough to guess anywhere really (does anyone mind if i dibs the next answer)

It is not exclusively in FS2, 8. You're running out of space for guesses, guys!
-
trick pulling! i knew it!
it's either a cain or a lilith, and it's not in fs2 exclusively. as far as I know no shivan cruisers have been in both fs1 and fs2 or st and fs2.
so let's just start guessing.
Is it the SC Taranis?

Yes, its a Cain-class cruiser, 6.
-
Is it the SC Raja?
-
Is it one of the Cains from Hellfire?
-
Is it only mentioned in any FS2 mission, but never actually appearing ingame?
-
Its not the Raja, and its not from the hellfire group. It does appear in one CANON mission.
3 remain. Good luck finishing this!
-
There are about 10 Cains in FS2 that appear in only one mission. Didn't count the ones from FS1. We need to think: what is so special about that one particular Cain?
I thought it might be the SC / SD Tantalus, but it is not a Cain :P
Also... I don't want to use up any questions, but does somebody remember any Cains from multiplayer missions? They're also canon, I suppose.
-
Is it the SC Cain?
-
Is it the SC Cain?
It is the SC Cain, well done, you got it with only 2 questions remaining. Who would've ever thought its the ship carrying the name of the class itself.
-
Well that's why I picked it, it was the only thing that stood out ;).
Ok ppl, my turn. Good luck!

Summary:
It's canon.
It's a group or faction etc, but not a squadron or company.
It has nothing to do with the Shivans.
They're armed.
They're Terran.
They're not exclusive to the techroom.
They are in FS2 and more.
They are not antagonists. Canonically, which may suggest they are outside of canon. I wonder if they could become antagonists in the game.
It isn't the GTVA or the Terran race.

No.

Hmmm... are Pirates the answer?
They are canon (ST Cloak and Dagger).
They could be described as a group.
They have nothing to do with Shivans.
They are armed with high tech ships and weapons.
They could very well be Terran.
They do not appear in the techroom IIRC.
They are not antagonists but you do fight against them.
They are not connected with the GTVA.
If I am wrong, I give up, nothing else falls on my mind.

0 questions left.
I actually thought Lorric would get it by question 10 or 7. It was the Luyten New Alliance.
I had to answer to the question "Is it in FS2?" in the most literal sense. Yes, it is in there, in the game, as historical record. It isn't canonically antagonistic, but there's a fan campaign where it is. It isn't made of matter (It's an alliance, a government, an institution), it is Terran but not "a group within the GTVA" (this is where I got most doubts... AFAICT, the LNA was dissolved when the GTVA was established, but it is somewhat arguable that there was a timeframe where the two existed at the same time. The present tense of the question adds to the problem. Nevertheless I had to respond something, and the LNA wasn't definitely part of the GTVA when it formed - feel free to argue with me on this one).
-
I actually thought that the answer was the private investors (or mercenaries) :P A good one, good one.
-
Yeah, that was one of my suspicions as well. Actually tried to trawl through some of the wiki articles on the GTVA to see what the previous star system governments were, but couldn't find anything that gave me the precise name.
(should have asked for a refund for ngtmr's question argh)

OK, if everyone agrees I have another one.

Does the person die?
Canonically, no.

I think what Dekker was getting at was...
Does the person drive a spacecraft, either as a pilot or as part of the command crew?
-
I don't think that was his question at all. Mind the exact phrasing.
But do you want me to reply to that one?
-
Is this person a crew member of a destroyer that canonically saved mankind twice?

I'm starting to think there should be some sort of limit as to how many questions a person can ask before it's answered.
Bad idea. No one will want to ask the early questions, running down their limit and becoming unable to get the answer even if they know it.
If you mean in one post, well I'd just have gone through them one by one otherwise.
-
Limit # of questions "in a row" without someone else asking.
-
Limit # of questions "in a row" without someone else asking.
Why?
It's not as if these games are in short supply, but sometimes questioners are.
If there's more than one person wanting to ask questions, it will just happen naturally.
-
I think the fact that this game has averaged more than a page a day means there is no shortage of questioners.
While there were no rules attached to the initial post, I think it would be kind and polite if eager questioners could slow down a bit and let it be more a game of '1 vs. the community' rather than '1 vs. a few really active players'. Just a suggestion anyway.
-
Maybe there could be two threads and you can't participate in both at the same time. Unless you're answering in one and asking in the other. But I still think no interference is optimal.
If I'm the one answering the questions I don't want the flow to be slowed down. I'm only going to be around so often, so ideally the questions come thick and fast while I'm around to answer them.
There was one point where I made about 4 or 5 posts in a row to ask questions but someone got in first between me posting and hitting post, so I had to wait and see what the answer to their question was and discard my post. Sure it was frustrating in the moment after it happened the third time in a row, but I found it more amusing than anything overall. It's happened plenty of times singly. I don't think there should be any limits. There'll be times when several are eager to post and times when you're the only one around interested in playing. Just let it flow naturally.
-
Is it Lieutenant Harbison?
Is it McCarthy?
Is it Xinny?
Is it Zero?
Is it Jack Niven?
Yes. 6.

Frankly, I understand the point that others are making. I think rules are not needed, but you shouldn't abuse the 20 questions rules like that, Lorric. It's a bit annoying for the rest of them who want to play too. So.... tame it down a bit?
Now, let's go back at it. You got it right somewhere in there. First one to guess exactly whom wins the game! (Sorry Lorric, that's the punishment for pulling that fast one!)
-
Xinny?
-
McCarthy?
-
And Dekker wins!!! Congrats :D
(I picked him because he was also present in BP, which could probably have gotten the game into some ambiguities hehe)

Ha, I'd have ended up picking all the others before Xinny. So that saves me the trouble.

I'm 99% certain McCarthy is made of matter.
Nah, he's made of electrons, like everything else in FreeSpace.

I wake up to see no answer-er.

Timelines! Did it exist before or during the Great War?
Probably! I don't know! I don't actually have a reference for this!

**points up at the "FreeSpace Wiki" tab up at the top of the screen
Q: Is it a ship or installation?
-
Yup! yeppers! Definetely! 16!
-
So answer to my question is yes, ya?
Is it bigger than a Fenris?
-
Yes, yes it is! To both! But only counting the second one as a question that's numbered! So yes! All yes! Every question that's been asked so far is either a yes or probably!
15!
-
Is it mobile?
-
Oh, it's ABSOLUTELY mobile! It moves! 14!

A canonical ship/installation, bigger than a Fenris, and mobile. Existed before/during the Great War.
Is it Terran?

Existed before/during the Great War.

Note that I don't actually know when it existed during/before the great war! But oh yes, oh yes it's Terran! It's very Terran! 13!

That leaves us probably only with the Orion and Hades.
Is it one of those?
Plus: not sure if it counts as a question - but you want a class of a vessel or a specific ship?

I claim the next space as rightfully mine in advance....
Is it the GTD Bastion?
-
Yup! It's certainly an Orion or Hades, and it's a specific ship, that's not the Bastion! 10!
-
Does it appear or is mentioned in any FS1 mission?

Oh oh oh, now that's much better! I can tell you for sure that it is absolutely NOT! 9!
-
Is it the Hades?

I think most of us here know of the most special canonical Orion.
Does it appear in a cutscene or mission in FS2?
-
Legion
-
It's not a hades, it appears in FS2 yes it does absolutely, and it's not the Legion! 6!
-
GTD Messana?
Aside from that I think there's only the Uhuru, Repulse, and Carthage?
EDIT: and the Vindicator.
For non-Bastion Orions that appear in-mission in FS2 and not simply mentioned.
Correct me if I missed any.

It is NOT the messana! 5!

Phoenicia's a Hecate. EDIT: And Lorric deleted his post.
Hmm. So.
It's in FS2, not in FS1, is an Orion or a Hades.

Well, let's start going through Droid's list.

I would bet on the second-in-command of the Orestes (who takes over the command after Adm. Bei's departure) or someone from the UEFg Katana in TBI... but both are related to a military organisation - GTVA or UEF.
But I might have a clue. Was he captured by GTVA?

Re: Vice Admiral Morian (Orestes 2IC) I refer you to...
An admiral
He was not captured by the GTVA
One question remains...............
-
Oh, right. Morian is his name.
So, well, we would have many options, but the part with "not related to an organisation" is shrinking the possibilities a lot. Noone from GTVA, not Ken, no HoL operative, not a Gef. I was thinking some Tev/Fed command crew or Martin Mandho, but they are all related to some organisation. That leaves us with someone independent and rather not important for BP story. I was thinking this (http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php?topic=76120.0), but these three were captured by GTVA... And both Granite Hunter and Truth are not unrelated to an organisation.
Have we got any named civilians being a bridge crew in BP? (Not a question to you, Dekker)

Free Intel.
Apologies but I didn't realise I said he wasn't of Tev pride. He is most definitely in the GTVA.

Nope.
All out of questions if my count is right.

I say let's try to solve this a bit longer.
Does this person appear/is mentioned in any WiH mission?

Quite a few of WiH missions.

I really can't think of any non-military Tevs other than Toqueville that fit that criteria... everyone else I can think of is either military or only mentioned once...

He IS Military.

Quite a few of WiH missions.
I'm such a bloody idiot.
AGE OF AQUARIUS.
EXCLUSIVELY.

He IS Military.
The Secretary-General is not a member of the military, no; but it's irrelevant anyway because I don't recall him being mentioned by AoA nearly as much as by WiH, and AoA has plenty of other options.

Can the player can interact with in-mission? (Not counting briefing/debriefing/etc.)
-
Nah...
15!
-
Is it a star, planet, nebula, asteroid, or other astronomical object?
-
No.
14.
-
So it's material and in-universe, but never appears in-mission, it's not a person, ship, or astronomical object... subspace, energy effects, and organizations aren't material... huh. The possibility space is quite limited!
Is it a weapon, weapons system, and/or communications device?
-
Can the player can interact with in-mission? (Not counting briefing/debriefing/etc.)
I didn't say that it isn't present or at least mentioned in any :P
Is it a weapon, weapons system, and/or communications device?
No.
13.
-
I can't tell if that's a red herring or not. Ships and weapons have been explicitly ruled out, as have nebulae and the various background images; jump nodes aren't material; asteroids, debris, sentries/cargo/installations/etc, and subsystems can be interacted with (eg. destroyed or scanned); waypoints are neither material nor in-universe... hm. Shield systems can definitely be interacted with, Command is person...
Is it present in retail?

Is it ambient or background related?

Non-retail. Even more, non-canonical!
Is it ambient or background related?
Nah.

Yea.

It isn't a cargo container itself...
8.

Is it a shop?

Nah.
7.

Is it cargo?

Is it Sync?

Okay, Cobra got this right. A nice guess!

The moment you said it was cargo you interacted with I knew the answer. :D
I have an answer. Bring on your castoff questions and your wretched thoughts.

I mean I did provide a voice for the thing way back in 2006 :nervous:
Well, the hint is it's not the campaign itself but what's in it. ;)
-
There are others, Lightning Marshal for example. The restoration project has voiceacted a bunch of them.
Is it obsessed with duct tape?

Hmm... ask silly question before a beer, try to interpret the answer after & wishes ones self hadn't tried to be so damn clever.
I knew it would backfire badly once I saw the question :D
I answered the question logically correctly, though. I was careful.
Anyway - is it Terran?
Yes.

Heh :)

I think you'll find that covered by this:
Is it corvette sized or larger?
Yes.
-
Hmm my english fails me here, for I may be missing the subtleties in definitions. Could you define in precise terms what "strike craft" means?
In this context it means small combat ships like fighters and bombers.
-
If that's the consensus meaning, I'll take it.
No.
8.

I agree with you!
And regarding your question, yes!

This sounds like the GTFf Saphah, but "not based on the Iceni" rules that out...
There's also the GTE Vidar, though.
Is it featured in the Cold Element continuity (Derelict, Warzone, Twilight, BWO)?

Yes!!

Is it the Gorgon cannon?

I was beggining to worry that I had it too hard, after actually choosing something that I felt was very easy to guess.
-
Goob helped, had he not asked about CE I'd've gone off in a different direction. And I thought JSR wasn't entirely sarcastic in his 'explodingly painful death'.
Now, I'm going to go easy on you. Hint: It's FreeSpace related.

Not that it was too easy, just that it was the more likely choice than, say, the Gigas or Diablo.
-
i have one i guess. maybe? Do I ?
-
Shoot.
Canon and made out of matter is it?
-
Well that's probably the toughest to answer I've ever gotten. Because I'd be correct in saying it's both non-canon and made of matter, and canon and made of matter, and canon and not made of matter, depending on situation and wording and such.
So I'll just go with all 3 at once. There you have it, 18.
-
Bear in mind that you didn't state the fourth combination there.
-
Great war era?
-
Well, I mean, probably not. 17.
-
I'm still not over the first answer.
Does it have anything to do with shivans?

What the ****. That makes no sense.
-
It's canon and material or not.
I'd say that some stuff can be both material and non-material, depending on a point of view. Like information.
And. Is it related to subspace?
-
I think we need to establish if it's a solid entity.
-
It has something to do with shivans, it's not directly related to subspace, it's a solid entity, of a sort, depending on what you define as solid entity.
Oh screw it I'll give you it's in our universe, not the FS universe.
14
-
At this point, I only have 2 questions?
A: Is it a black hole?
B: is it a quantum transmission?
-
Oooookay yeah screw it I'll throw out the generic yes/nos and give specifics. It's canon, made of matter, and a solid object, but in our universe, the one we live in, not the FS universe.
There you go. That should make it possible now.

Is it asteroids?

Is it Capella?

No, no. Absolutely not. No way! 12.

Really? That was a valid question. There are total conversions that are both released and unreleased in these forums. How does a 34-year-old post stuff like this? This was childish on a mountain of levels. Don't be a ****ing asshole.
Now, is it a capital ship?
-
Hmm you're right, I didn't think of that. Sorry.
-
Now, is it a capital ship?
/me throws his hands up in disgust at the ship classifications used in B5.
I'm going to go with yes. 12
-
Were (in-universe) humans involved in the design or construction of the ship?
-
Yes, 11
-
Is it a specific ship that also appeared in the TV series?
-
Nope; 10

Did it appear in a TV movie?

Nope; 9

Is it a class of ship?

Nope, 8

TBP, specific ship, did not appear in B5's other works...
Is it from a Vidmaster campaign?
-
I... must confess to not having played Vidmasters campaigns :nervous: (I should really do that....)
As I can't answer, I'll treat it as though the question wasn't asked, still 8
-
So I downloaded & checked all Vidmasters campaigns; I can conclusively answer NO, not in a Vidmaster campaign. 7
(where the campaigns checked were)
Achen Flight School................................by Vidmaster
Dark Children*.....................................by Vidmaster
Fortune Hunters - 2259*............................by Vidmaster
Fortune Hunters - 2260*............................by Vidmaster

:bump:
So, uh... does this ship name start with a letter in the first half of the alphabet? :nervous:
-
Yeah, I suspect picking a named ship from TBP was ... a ship too far/obscure?
Anyway, no, the ships name starting letter is from the 2nd half of the alphabet, 6.
-
Ok but does it explode
-
Yes. Yes it does. Boom. 5
-
I haven't played TBP in far too long for this...
-
Is it a Centauri dude?
-
Is it a Centauri dude?
Um.... no, it's a ship & related to humans. Maybe I'm missing something?
-
I missed a page of questions. Disregard my last.
-
if nobody minds, i'm taking posession of this thread, for I have an IDEA!
I am thinking of something related to freespace!
-
Is it a ship ?
-
Is it canon?
-
Is it a ships cannon?
-
It's NOT a ship! It's CANON! It's a SHIP'S CANNON! 17!
-
Is it a beam?
-
Yup, yup, yup, yup yup yup and yup! 16!
-
Is it a Terran beam?
-
PROBABLY! Yes! Maybe! Likely! Possibly! It's true! 15!
-
Is it a new TEI one of a destroyer calibre?
-
Dude, he already said it was canon. So it can't be TEI anything. TEI is Blue Planet continuity, not :v: canon.
-
Well is it green then?
-
No. Yes. Maybe? Yes! It's GREEEEEEEEEEN! :beamz:
-
I'm guessing it's a Mjolnir Remote Beam Cannon.
-
No no no no no it's a ship's cannon not a remote beam cannon! 14!
-
Is it found on the colossus?
-
That's not a question I'm going to answer with anything but a NO, pilot!
13!
-
So it can't be BGreen, TerSlash (standard), BFGreen (Endgame) or LRBGreen (High Noon) then.
LTerSlash?
Other remaining possibilities are SGreen or Green Beam (is this one even used anywhere, it's just in the tables right?).
-
It is NOT a little tiny baby itty slashy beam! 12!
-
Green Beam (is this one even used anywhere, it's just in the tables right?).
The Lysander and Actium have some Green Beams in The Great Hunt.
-
Is it found on the Orion default load out?
-
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
11!
-
I believe that leaves the SGreen. Is it the SGreen?
-
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
-
BFGreen.
-
BFGreen.
It's already been said it can't be found on the Colossus.
-
It's already been said it can't be found on the Colossus.
It hasn't been asked whether that means "standard loadout" or "tweaked in FRED"; Droid just assumed that nonstandard loadouts were included. We've eliminated the standard loadout of the Orion so it's not a BGreen or TerSlash. We've eliminated the Green Beam. We've eliminated the LTerSlash. We've eliminated the SGreen. And we've literally run out of other canonical green-colored beams to ask aside from those on nonstandard Colossus loadouts.
Seriously, go look at the wiki. TerSlash, Green Beam, LTerSlash, BFGreen, LRBGReen, BGreen, SGreen. That's it.
-
Long Range Big Green!
-
Did we actually eliminate Green Beam? I just asked where it was found.
Green Beam
-
And if not that, I know that "Remote beam cannon" was a NO. But what about the beam that's on the RBC? that weapon has It's own table file.
-
Did we actually eliminate Green Beam? I just asked where it was found.
Green Beam
yes. Yes. Yes! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES!
the green beam wasn't actually eliminated, only the lterslash
-
Okay, well, if no one else is gonna start the next round, I may as well~!
-
I kinda not posted here for too long, so: is it material & is it canon?
-
Yes and yes. 18.
-
Is it explode
-
It can explode, yes.
-
Is it a ship?
-
Is it exploded by the Shivans
-
It's a ship. It may have fought Shivans, but I don't think that's ever been seen "on screen".
-
Does it appear in-mission during the FS2 campaign?
-
That's a neg.
EDIT: Y'know, "probably" is too strong, amended that answer a lil.
-
Is the vessel a destroyer?
-
Nope, it is larger and/or smaller than every ship referred to as a destroyer in canon. 16!
-
Does it explode in :v: cannon
-
Nope, it is larger and/or smaller than every ship referred to as a destroyer in canon. 16!
This answer perplexes.
-
Nerdo: It's implied to have. 15!
Dekker: Hahaha, I'm just a silly person sometimes :) It's not a destroyer, that's all.
-
Is it Terran?
-
Yup! 14.
-
Is it mobile?
-
Is it mobile?
Are there any immobile ships?
-
Is it a cruz0r
-
Is it mobile?
Are there any immobile ships?
It depends on its status surely?
-
Mobile: Yup. It's not the GTD Minnow or an Arcadia :)
It is not a cruz0r, crewsur, krwzr, nor for that matter a cruiser. 12!
-
Does it not exist in Freespace one?
-
It does not appear in the first retail campaign, no. 11!
-
Is it a zod ship?
-
Is it a zod ship?
Is it Terran?
Yup! 14.
Is it destroyed after the Colossus' deployment?
-
Nope, no ships of this class went down after that. 10!
-
Does it have beams?
-
Nope. 9.
-
Is it a non combatant?
-
Does it shot flak gun
-
Does it appear in a mission?
-
No, no, and not in retail. 6!
-
It's both material and canon. A Terran ship that can explode (like every one...), and it rather didn't fight Shivans. Not a destroyer or a cruiser and does not appear in any FS2 or FS1 mission. Mobile (so not an installation). Did not go down after Coloccus was torn apart. It's a combatant though and it doesn't fire any beams or flak. Doesn't appear in a retail mission.
This basically eliminates any FS2 Terran ship bigger than a fighter (flak is really common among these, unless you consider "doesn't fire flak" as "doesn't fire any flak that player witnesses).
I say it has to be related to FS1 (T-V war), Silent Threat or Operation Templar. Is the vessel mentioned anywhere in FS1?
-
It is! 5~
-
Is it the GTF Angel? Been thinking about it ever since you said it doesn't appear in retail. Just needed Mito to ask the time period.
-
An FS1 ship that's neither a cruiser, destroyer, nor civilian, and never shows up in a mission but is mentioned in canon? It could be the GTF Angel...
...and it is. Bravo zulu, y'all!
-
I'll take another go, if any of you still feel like playing. Hopefully something'll come to mind by the time the standard questions arrive.
Shoot.
-
Canon & material?
-
Let's go with material. Let's not go with canon.
18.
-
Is it a ship?
-
That's need to know. And right now, you need to know that it is a negative.
-
Is it a person?
-
16 and nope.
-
Is it artificial?
-
Yup.
-
Is it a weapon?
-
It's a weapon, alright.
-
Is it a missile
-
Not a missile.
13.
-
Is it shot out of a fightercraft or bombercraft
-
Is it of human construction?
-
Yes @ both.
11.
-
Is it more of an alliance weapon rather than a federation one?
-
It is not.
-
Is it a secondary weapon aimed more at suppressing strike craft?
-
Is it bloody awful?
-
It's not @ Dekker.
It is quite awful, however.
9.
Might drop a hint on the next one. Might not.
-
Does the player shoot it as a primary wepon?
-
Yes yes yes!
-
An awful weapon the player shoots.
Does it consume ammo?
-
It sure does.
-
Is it the Gattler?
-
To be fair, the 'awful' bit is the positive awful. Like, say, awfully powerful. I may have given it away. (that was the hint, btw)
So no, not the Gattler.
6, I think.
-
Is it the Archer?
-
I...I may have misled you somewhere on the previous page. You're on the right track, but not quite there yet (Nerdo's questions).
You can't exactly use it yet. It's seen once, though.
That was me saying 'Not the Archer' the long way.
5.
-
Alright, let's see :
- It's player allowed
- It's really good
- It's a primary weapon
- It's apparently a BP-Federation weapon
- It uses ammo
This narrows it down to only 5 weapons, if I'm not mistaken.
- Per your last post, it hasn't been used by the player yet
This only leaves the two bomber primaries.
- It has only been seen once
We've seen a number of Durga bombers, so the Redeemer has seen plenty of action.
On the other hand, we've seen the Vajradhara once, during "Icarus", and although its main weapon isn't used during the cutscene, it is - as far as I know, its only appearance in BP so far.
So ---> is it the Vajra ?
-
Isn't it fired at the Hecate in Tenebra's final cinematic? I only realized my mistake after remembering you can only use it in 'Kentauroi race'.
So that's a yes. I adore that weapon. Grats.
-
Isn't it fired at the Hecate in Tenebra's final cinematic?
Hmm, could be, I've only watched the new cutscene twice so far so I don't know :D
-
Hey, if anyone isn't claiming this I have one.
-
Alright, let's get started then :)
Is it made of matter ?
-
And is it canon?
-
Is it of human origin?
-
No, no, yes.17
-
I'd it comedy based?
-
Nope! 16~
-
Is it an engine feature?

15!
-
Is it an organization?

NO! NO! NO!

Is it a person

Is it a person
How could it be a person and not made of matter...?
-
Does it predate Capella?

Is it a person
How could it be a person and not made of matter...?
Fred or a beta tester :p
Or someone from a training mission or windmills etc.

Does it predate Capella?
Oh, HELL YEAH! 13!
-
Is it BP canon?
-
In a way! They exist in BP, sure!
-
Is it present in all campaigns?
-
Is it a squadron?
-
They're not present in every campaign, no, I'd even go so far as to say they're not present in MOST campaigns! It's not a squadron, either!
-
Something immaterial that multiple campaigns have, but retail doesn't? And it's Terran, but not an organization... Okay, that's an interesting set of constraints.
Is it related to technology?
-
Sooooooort of?
9!
give you a hint, we count as terrans too for the purposes of my answer to that :v
-
Is it a game asset?
-
In a way! 8!
-
Is it an engine feature?
-
Is it an engine feature?
n O p E
15!
-
Is it visual?
-
Um.... you certainly know it when you see it, sure????
-
Alright, lets sum it up :
- Not made of matter
- Not canon (note : could mean not-in-retail, could mean too abstract to be canon)
- Of human origin (note : we, as players, count as terrans)
- Not comedy-based
- Not an engine feature
- Not an organisation
- Predates Capella (assuming = FS2 era)
- Exists in BP
- Not present in most campaign
- Not a squadron
- Sort of related to technology
- In a way, it's a game asset
(- You know it when you see it)
"Not made of matter" implies something rather abstract.
"Not canon", "predates Capella (hell yeah)" and "we count as terrans too for the purposes of the answer" suggests it could have some relation to real life.
"Not present in most campaigns", "exists in BP" give us some ways to narrow things down a bit.
"Not an engine feature" but "sort of related to technology" yet is "a game asset, in a way" is a rather confusing set of restrictions.
Let's put aside the game asset bit for now, the fact that it's not an engine feature excludes most modder wizardy & related assets present in BP but absent from most campaigns (fiction pieces, techroom entries, scripting, table values, ...).
"Speaking protagonist" is a nice fit : it's a story telling tool that we are all familiar with, so not an engine feature, has no relation to Freespace canon, is present in BP but not in a number of other campaigns (including retail) and I guess you could consider it a game asset. However, it has no relation to technology and is too abstract to be visual.
"Voice acting" seems better : you need recording tools, so it has some relation to tech without being a strict engine feature and you can see/hear it.
We don't have a lot of questions left (and I could be going in completely the wrong way :)), so I won't take that particular shot just yet.
So, knowing it is not canon, is it still present in retail FS2 ?
-
Is it the Transcend?
-
Welp, let's try this again. Ask away!
-
Is it canonical?
-
Does it EXIST?
-
Interpreting "canonical" as "retail canonical", no. Interpreting "exist" as "exist within its fictional continuity", yes.
-
Is it possible for it to explode violently, in a physical and not metaphorical sense?
-
Oh, certainly. 17!
-
Does it have guns on it?
-
Does it be human?
<DELIBERATE BAD ENGLISH>
-
Guns, guns, guns!
Ix-nay on the umans-hay, however.
-
Does it move under its own power?
-
Yup, the better to aim its guns at things~ 14!
-
Does the player drive it in any released campaigns?
-
No. 12.
Is anyone else still reading this?
-
Is anyone else still reading this?
Well, JSRNerdo was asking good questions and I didn't want to ask something that might be rendered irrelevant by the answer.
Is it Shivan?
-
Shivan? Could be~
But it's not. 11!
-
Is it Vasudan?
(For all we know it might be Wing Commander Saga we're talking about here :P)
-
Zods? In MY space shooter? Nah. 10!
-
Is the fictional continuity it exists in independent of the freespace universe?
-
Most people would say it is not independent.
-
Does it have beams on it?
-
Single occupancy?
-
Beams? Where we're[1] going, we don't need beams.
[1] "We" implies more than one occupant.
7!
-
Is it part of the Blue Planet continuity?
-
Corona 3: Nothing on scope, sir. Goddamn useless Aurora sensor pods...
Corona 1: Brevity, people.
Corona 2: I think Three's right. It's just not here.
Corona 1: When Command wants your opinion they'll promote you to admiral. Now shut up and keep looking.
Corona 3: With all due respect, sir, I don't think it's even part of this continuity.
Wall 4: Invalid target! Hold your fire!
-
i think you skipped a question between 14 and 12 unless I missed something.
Hrm. A beam-less explodey thing that moves under its own power and has more than one person in it, but you don't drive it in any released campaigns and nor is it in BP. I'm guessing reconstruction or T-V war, since it's not retail canon either.
Is it a T-V war era ship?
-
Yeah, I went straight from 14 to 12, good catch.
It's not a T-V War ship, but we've already determined that it's neither Terran nor Vasudan, so I'm not going to count that one.
7 questions remain, unless I ****ed up elementary arithmetic again.
-
Oh. I have one. Since it's not BP, it can't be the vishans, so....
Is it featured in Ancient-Shivan War?
-
It very well may be, battle brother. Six inferior questions still remain, but our glorious empire shall exterminate them all the same.
-
Does it have a fighterbay?
glublghuglbgub someone other than me ask! or play ASW then ask!
-
Of course! How else is it to launch the sacred Kato and extend the glory of our empire?
-
Well...
Arkoritri? :nervous:
-
Yes, by the Core! Got it with four questions left.
-
I would want to pass the question to someone else, but if nobody wants to, then I will think of something.
-
I have one if you don't want to go.
-
Target in visual range. Move to broadside position and open fire!
That thing canon and material?
-
That thing canon and material?
Taking "canon" to mean "appears in a :v: canon campaign": no, it is not canon. Yes, it is material.
-
Does it predate Capella?
-
Does it predate Capella?
It does not. 17 questions remain.
-
Let's get the obvious one out of the way, then. (thing.continuity == Continuity.BLUE_PLANET)?
-
Is it explosive and/or containing explosive substances?
-
Let's get the obvious one out of the way, then. (thing.continuity == Continuity.BLUE_PLANET)?
Yes, it appears in Blue Planet!
Is it explosive and/or containing explosive substances?
No, it is not.
15 questions remain.
-
Is it a living being and/or previously living being that is no longer living?

That's an affirmative, Lead. 12.

Are they part of a warship's command crew?

Are they canonically dead by the end of Tenebra?
-
Are they part of a warship's command crew?
I'm pretty sure the answer to this is "no".
Are they canonically dead by the end of Tenebra?
That's a negatory. 10 questions remain.
-
Does this person say anything (including lines without VA) during any WiH mission?
-
Does this person say anything (including lines without VA) during any WiH mission?
To the best of my knowledge, no. 9 questions remaining.
-
...at least mentioned in WiH campaigns (including TBI and Act 3)?
-
...at least mentioned in WiH campaigns (including TBI and Act 3)?
Yes. 8.
-
So... Human. Even more, Buntu human. Doesn't appear in any :v: campaign. Doesn't predate Capella (assuming that wasn't yet alive then). Mentioned in a WiH campaign (incl. TBI), but never heard during any mission. Alive at the end of Tenebra.
Did you take "in mission" as with or without briefings, debriefings ect.? I feel kinda silly now that I forgot to say it more precisely...
-
Did you take "in mission" as with or without briefings, debriefings ect.? I feel kinda silly now that I forgot to say it more precisely...
I interpreted it as without briefings/debriefings (so during actual gameplay).

...No.
-
Well, I'm stumped. Does he have a canonical name?
-
Well, I'm stumped. Does he have a canonical name?
It's definitely a named character, yes.
-
I'm leaning towards someone mentioned in a (de)briefing that's not a pilot (otherwise surely they'd have had lines in mission) and not on a warships command crew. They don't deliver the brief/debrief so .. hmm... do I want to read all the (de)briefs on the wiki to see if anyone jumps out?
-
I would have gone with Laporte's dad (I think he was a pilot), but I'd rather check the de/briefings & fiction notes first, I'm not sure he is actually named.
-
I'll go with Sir Rishi Razali.
-
I'll take a shot: Navahas squadron leader - Captain Telfer.
-
It's not Telfer, since he gives you your briefings in act 1. Laporte's dad is dead.
-
Right, missed that :
Are they canonically dead by the end of Tenebra?
That's a negatory. 10 questions remain.
-
Right, the character isn't dead, so it can't be Laporte's dad.
-
It's not Telfer, since he gives you your briefings in act 1. Laporte's dad is dead.
Uhhhh...
Did you take "in mission" as with or without briefings, debriefings ect.? I feel kinda silly now that I forgot to say it more precisely...
I interpreted it as without briefings/debriefings (so during actual gameplay).
I can't really remember any instance where Telfer spoke anything in-flight...
-
Do they present a briefing or debriefing to the player?
Not to my knowledge. 5.
It's not Telfer.
-
I'll go with Sir Rishi Razali.
Also, hey, we never got an answer to this one.
-
I'll go with Sir Rishi Razali.
I missed this earlier, but no, it's not Knight 2.
As others have already pointed out, it's not Telfer or Laporte's dad. Anybody else have a guess? There's still 2 questions left, by my count.
-
Alright, my bad there. Sorry :P
-
I think you got us, Ralwood. GG, who was it?
-
The person I was thinking of was Admiral Netreba.
-
I'd ruled him out since he's the CO of a warship.
-
I'd ruled him out since he's the CO of a warship.
To the best of my knowledge, flag officers are never directly in charge of their flagships.
-
Yyyyyyyyyyyeah, my wording wasn't the best there. I meant it as a "d'oh" thing. I wasn't being critical. On a scale from one to ten, how much were you giggling when we thought it was someone really obscure?
If no one objects, I'll start us up again.
-
On a scale from one to ten, how much were you giggling when we thought it was someone really obscure?
About a seven.
If no one objects, I'll start us up again.
Well, I want to go again, now. :P
-
Shoot then, 'Admiral'. (That's regarding the answer.)
Ugh, now I remember 'The Intervention'.
-
Does it appear in Volition canon?
-
It does not appear in :v: canon. 19.
-
Does it appear in Blue Planet canon?

It appears in Blue Planet. 18.
-
Is it a ship? (For the purposes of this question, installations, sentries, etc. count.)
-
It is not. 17.
-
Is it a living and/or formerly living biological entity?
-
It is not. 16.

Is it physical? Organizations don't count as physical, technologies do.

I don't think this question has a sensible answer.

Is it an organization, military unit, or other group of people with a shared objective?
-

No. 13.
-
Is it a celestial body?

Is it a celestial body?
Definitely not. 12.
-
Well, it can't be - since we already know that it isn't physical...
Does it predate Age of Aquarius events (as in "our" universe, not the other one)?
-
Well, it can't be - since we already know that it isn't physical...
Good point; I'll give the question back because it's generally my policy not to waste official questions on things that have already been answered by something else.
Does it predate Age of Aquarius events (as in "our" universe, not the other one)?
I don't think this question has a meaningful answer.
-
Is it an idea/way of thinking? (something like a religion or philosophy as opposed to something non-physical but provably existential like gravity or other forces)
-
Is it an idea/way of thinking? (something like a religion or philosophy as opposed to something non-physical but provably existential like gravity or other forces)
Er... I suppose you could look at it that way? Still, I think the most reasonable answer would be "no". 12.
-
Hmm, that kinda confirms what I was thinking... I have a guess... but I won't use a question on it until I'm more sure ;).
-
Is it mentioned in the course of the Morrigan short stories?
-
Is it mentioned in the course of the Morrigan short stories?
No. 11.
-
Is it explicitly in Age of Aquarius? (ie directly shown or discussed, not just something that exists in the background)
-
Is it explicitly in Age of Aquarius? (ie directly shown or discussed, not just something that exists in the background)
It is not shown or discussed in Age of Aquarius. 10.
-
So, to my knowledge, we've ruled out Nagari and the Dreamscape (both mentioned in Morrigan in Shadow), Ubuntu (very definitely a philosophy), and the Fedayeen (debatably a philosophy, debatably omniscient, but very definitely an organization). I don't think the Summed Psyche was mentioned explicitly in UT1 and CASSANDRA may or may not qualify as physical. No questions, just speculating.
-
As a computer network, I would probably call CASSANDRA physical. Summed Psyche is tempting, though... I had my mind set on Nagari until the Morrigan answer.
-
Well, along that thread... is it related to the origin/standing of the Shivans and Vishnans?
(although this wouldn't confirm Summed Psyche... it could be the Grand Design or whatever their plan was called).
-
The Terminal Protocol, forged by Brahma in the first apocalypse?
-
Yep, that. Well at least I made enough sense that someone recognized what I was going for ;)
-
It is not. 9.
-
The Terminal Protocol, forged by Brahma in the first apocalypse?
mentioned in morrigan so wasted question!! (i have no clue though)
-
I wasn't asking a question of Ralwood, just trying to help clarify Abaddon's thoughts :) I assumed Ralwood's "it is not" was referring to

Right.

It's a shame the forum traffic subsided, I enjoyed reading these...
-
Same. I'm too old for discord and its rapid-fire stream of consciousness aspect.
-
It's functionally not that different from IRC. The HLP discord really isn't very fast.
-
Can I play? I have an idea.
-
Of course, can't comment on how much traffic it'll get but go ahead .
-
Okay. To start, let me just cover the answers to the usual questions:
- It's not canon
- It is material
- It's not a ship
- It's not sexy
-
Is it vasudan?
-
In my family, we play I'm thinking of an animal. The automatic first question is, "What does it like to eat?"
-
Is it vasudan?
It is not Vasudan.
-
And?
What does it like to eat? :p
-
And?
What does it like to eat? :p
It doesn't eat anything.
-
Is it etak
-
Is it etak
No.
(I already said it was non-canonical so that guess doesn't count). 18 questions left.
-
Is it based in SOL?
-
Is it etak
Clearly ETAK eats.

It digests shivan comm traffic;D

Is it based in SOL?
No. 17.

Hints so far:
- It's not a ship
- It is material

- It's not ETAK
- It's not based in Sol

No, it is not a person. 15.

It it a planet, star, or other real life astronomical object?
-
It it a planet, star, or other real life astronomical object?
Please clarify, are you asking if it's a specific planet/star that exists in real life? Or just a type of object that exists in real life?
-
I meant a type of object. A star exists; a jump node does not. (Although your request for clarification is interesting enough to potentially be a hint in itself.)
-
I meant a type of object. A star exists; a jump node does not. (Although your request for clarification is interesting enough to potentially be a hint in itself.)
In that case yes, it is a type of object that exists in real life. 14.

That's still a yes. As it's just a clarification, there are still 13 questions left.

Gotcha. Is it a star?

No. 12
-
Is it a planet?
-
Yes, it is indeed a planet. 11
-
Is it Earth?

Is it Earth?
Considering I said it was not canon and from a mod, no, so I won't count this as a question. So still 11 left.
-
Is it in Sol?
-
Is it in Sol?
Again, I already answered that question earlier. It's not.
-
If it's not canon and not Vasudan, that also rules out Ribos 4, Deneb 3, Altair 4, Cygnus Prime, Neo-Terra, and SR-5. I can't think of any other planets offhand, and there aren't any others in the wiki (aside from inferred planets like Deneb 2).

Want a different hint?

Yeah I think that might help. Let's wait for a day though in case someone else has an idea.

Not sure what you mean by this. I already said it's not canon and it's found in a mod.
If you're asking if it's in some kind of parallel universe like the one in BP:AoA, the answer is no. 9.

Yes, it's Aesdher (or Aesdher Prime, or whatever you want to call it).
(I said it's not sexy because anyone who would describe the site of a complete planetary genocide as sexy probably has some issues).
