Hi! I was playing the game this morning whitout any problems, but now when I tried to play it this afternoon it just crashes on startup and says: "FreeSpace Open has stopped working"

No, I haven't changed any tables or anything between. I haven't updated my drivers etc.. It just stopped working. All my other games work fine.

I checked my fs2_Open file and found this at the bottom:

Where did you get your copy of FreeSpace and your MediaVPs from? Those MediaVPs are going to need to be cleaned up and moved to a subfolder, and I'm not sure which version they are, looking at them.

I also don't remember seeing this before:

I can tell you right now that FS_Bit_Dust_One.vf is not a file from either retail or the mediavps, so there are files in there that definitely do not belong.

My FS2 is a retail 3-disc edition, the media vp are from media vp 2014, wich I downloaded from this site.

This FS_Bit_Dust_One.vf  have I never Heard of..nor do I know what it does..

Well, this: Searching root 'D:\FreeSpace2\' ... 3834 files tells me that you have a lot of files in the "data" directory. Please go into that directory and delete everything EXCEPT the players directory.

In addition, please follow the MediaVPs install instructions. The MediaVPs files need to be in a folder named "mediavps_2014", which you will need to select as a mod in the Launcher. Not doing that will mean that some mods WILL NOT WORK CORRECTLY.

You can use fsoinstaller.com to get clean installs of content you're interested in.

 
Ok.. I'll check the data-folder.

I have the vp-files in a folder in FS2 main folder called: MediaVPs_2014.

I have tried to start the game via the launcher..It has worked every day untill this afternoon.

Hmm...this is weird..  I removed Everything in the Data-folder...now the game starts but when I try to put one modded table in the data-folder  (Data/tables/ships.tbl) where I altered just hitpoint on a ship to check if the game runs...It crashes with the same error... and no fs2_open-file were created...

You should never place modded files in FreeSpace2/data/tables. Instead, create a mod subfolder, like FreeSpace2/AlteredShipHP/, then place your modded table file in /FreeSpace2/AlteredShipHP/data/tables, then select that as a mod. You can use a mod.ini file to chain that mod to other mods.
