trouble with a campaign: Survivor
Hello,

I installed The babylon project few days ago on two computers.  One having ATI and other NVIDIA.
For ATI computer, everything works fine.  But on NVIDIA computer, there is a problem with "Survivor" campaign(other campaigns work fine though).
After "Survivor" movie, the campaign starts...but with black screen and HUD display.  The radar and HUD picks up enemy craft with red marker too.  But nothing is on the screen.  I can't shoot, I can't fire missiles, and I can't accelerate.  Whenever I press "afterburner" key, the screen flashes with black and white.

Again, all other campaigns work perfectly fine except survivor.
Would you like to help me with this problem?  Thanks  :)

Re: trouble with a campaign: Survivor
Are you using Zathras and the 3.6.10 inferno build that came with it?  Are your video card drivers up to date?
No-one ever listens to Zathras. Quite mad, they say. It is good that Zathras does not mind. He's even grown to like it. Oh yes. -Zathras

Re: trouble with a campaign: Survivor
Hello,

Thanks for the help.  Yes, my NVIDIA video card is up to date.
And for installation, I used "DVD Release 1.0 (1.81 GB)" which I found it here:

http://babylon.hard-light.net/official_downloads.php

I just installed fresh from DVD(using default setup file), and played.

I am new with Freespace 2...so I am bit unfamiliar with Zathras and the 3.6.10 inferno build you mentioned.  So I guess this may be the problem.
Where can I find Zathras and inferno build?  While waiting for reply, I will try to search in the forum.

Thanks :)

Re: trouble with a campaign: Survivor
Hello,
Thanks for the help.

I tried Zathras, but did not work.  Just like before, the survivor game runs...but with black screen.  All other campaigns work fine though.

I am using NVIDIA 6800 GT
Driver : 195.62

I will include in-game screenshot as well.  As you can see in the screenshot, the game runs.  HUD "marks and tracks" enemy craft with red marker, but I can't do anything...no weapon fire, no acceleration.  Screen flashes when pressed afterburner.

Thanks

Re: trouble with a campaign: Survivor
Weird, that. Please select the debug build in the Launcher (it should be called fs2_open_3_6_10_d_INF.exe or something like that), run it and enter the mission. Then quit, go to the data folder in your tbp directory, and post the fs2_open.log found there here.

Re: trouble with a campaign: Survivor
Hello,

After more searching and testing, I got it working now...but have new problem.
I was keep getting errors when I loaded Zanthra's mod, so I just ran the game by clicking new "Launcher" file provided in Zanthra's files(the one that replaced original launcher), and select "Run".  I thought this new Launcher included in Zanthra's file included all the fixes, but did not work.

So this time, after loading Zanthra's file, instead of clicking "cancel" on error message, I kept pressed "OK".  To my surprise, after clicking "OK" for several times, the game ran with survivor mod working correctly.  Looks like I have to do this in order to run the game every time.

Here are the list of errors I received(and kept pressed "OK" in each error to launch the game):

Re: trouble with a campaign: Survivor
You should be using the 3.6.10 Inferno build that came with Zathras, not the age-old 3.6.9.

Edit: That is, you should be using fs2_open_3_6_10_INF.exe.

Re: trouble with a campaign: Survivor
Thank you so much.

Now, everything is working perfectly.  I was initially confused with 3.6.10 Inferno build installation. But saw your message and realize that it was fs2_open_3_6_10_INF.exe file that I needed to double click(instead of shortcut that was created in fresh installation).

Again, thank you everyone for time, help and this great mod. :)
I am really enjoying The Babylon Project :)
