I got an idea (and probably far from a new one).

Why doesn't someone with the capability and necessary software (I am neither ) make a video that starts with original, un-modded FS2 then takes pieces of the videos of older SCP/FSU versions through the decades, so to say and finally ends with the current beauty?

Is the armor gonna be in large chunks or smaller ones?  Large ones allows weapon strikes to gouge large depressions in the hull, but it might look weird if a strike near the edge of an armor segment results in an apparent explosion and damage from the center.  Smaller segments give more variation but eat up the subsystem limit more.  Are you gonna also include some submodel debris so bits can fly off when an armor segment is destroyed?

i don't know yet, i guess i'll simply test what works best
and as you said, there's also the subobject limit and performance to keep in mind

FYI, though, you may want to improve the censoring on your ships list; it's still somewhat readable.

As for the project, this is something new and independent from Shadow Genesis. I'm calling it Mystery Project for now. Screenshots, sneak peaks and model releases are just a beginning of what I'm preparing ..

That's the ship lab, one of FSOs ollder features. Press F3 in the mainhall and you can look at all tge ships in your current mod's ships.tbl.

This project is a far descendant of Ultima Cena and a few other projects I was working on. I've took all the good ideas, models, backgrounds and other things, made a lot of new stuff and packed them into one megaproject.

It reminds me a lot of a Strike Cannon from Colony Wars in that first picture. I once compared another ship to the Colony Wars Strike Cannon, but this one is even closer.
