Mouse Cursor rendering with 3.8
Hey guys,

since 3.8 i have some strange problems if i try to record FSO.
The problem is simple... if i press the Record key, the game crashes right away... but only in any menu screen.

After some research, i found out, that this problem only persists, when i record the game with the option "Include Mouse Cursor" in my recording program (DxTory).
With other recording programs like FRAPS, that are also able to show the Mouse Cursor, i have a different result. The game do not crash, but the Mouse Cursor is only transparent and barely visible in the video.

With 3.7.4 or earlier i did not have such problems.
My last LP series was created with an Nightly Build from 28th April 2017 where i still had some issues. There the Mouse Cursor disappeared after the first loading screen in the video for no reason.

So i think, that the mouse cursor is rendered differently in 3.7.4 and 3.8.0.
And so i have to ask, how can i fix this to record this game with mouse cursor again? Because without it, it is somewhat difficult to show something in the menus.

Re: Mouse Cursor rendering with 3.8
The way the mouse cursor was changed in 3.8. Before the game handled rendering the cursor but now that is handled by the OS. I have no idea why the recording software would crash the game when it cursor is visible...

Have you tried OBS Studio?

schrödinbug (noun) - a bug that manifests itself in running software after a programmer notices that the code should never have worked in the first place.

<MageKing17> "There's probably a reason the code is the way it is" is a very dangerous line of thought. :P
<MageKing17> Because the "reason" often turns out to be "nobody noticed it was wrong".

<MageKing17> this ****ing code did it to me again

<MageKing17> How did this code ever work in the first place!?

<MageKing17> It was all working perfectly until I actually tried it on an actual mission.

No, because OBS AFAIK does not support Lossless Recordings. The same reason why i do not use Shadowplay either.
