So is 1.01 completly bug free? can't wait to try it just checking though cause 1 gig is HUGE what on earth have you crammed in there?

Consider it more of a re-release considering how much content was fixed and/or optimized. Consult the OP for exact details on improvements.

I'm really interested in grabbing this, but I'm a little confused by the conflicting version numbers.  I've seen version 1.01 and 1.1.  Is the version on FSMods the most up-to-date?

The version on FSMods is the latest version.  Its well worth the download.

Re: Burning Heaven Campaign Launched + Patch 1.1!
While I enjoy the game so far, I'm having extreme difficulty with the escorting Kappa mission due to various glitches and bugs (Ships wouldn't boost on one playthough. On the next, the boost destroyed MY ship)

I have to go to bed, but so far, the story and voice acting are pretty good.
This is my only contribution to FSSCP

Re: Burning Heaven Campaign Launched + Patch 1.1!
Well, I really loved the intro (Inception music ftw!), but once I start the first real mission, I get about 8 FPS (and some really horrible mouse-acceleration-esque input lag) on a GTX 460/i5 2500K. I'm guessing one or more of the models has serious issues... I'll try and isolate which one, but for the moment the mission really is unplayable.

[EDIT] And just like that, it's not lagging anymore. FS is ****ing with me.

[EDIT] been through a few missions, and it's awesome so far! Haven't experienced any lag since the first mission... I have a hunch it had to do with the massive amounts of weapon spam. It was a bit of a BOE, and FS has more trouble than you'd think with BOES (see also: Delenda Est, some WOD missions, BP massive battle for an extreme example).

Re: Burning Heaven Campaign Launched + Patch 1.1!
The FPS was pretty bad in the first mission for me too for some reason.

T'was a good campaign this. Short but good.
The good:
Decent voice acting.
Atmosphere
Mission design
Didn't encountered any big bugs (only one immediately comes to mind, when I was back at the node, the repair droid somehow managed to dock with me again and dragged me a short while back to the nero before it released me, made me go wtf)

The bad:
I didn't liked how the colonial fleet was a mishmash of random FS2 ships and fighters. The imperials had a single fighter type and one bomber, I would have perferred it if the colonials had their own clearly defined fighter type too. It kinda killed immersion when I was going "oh, thats the collossus and the hades"

Maybe when im feeling less lazy I'll type a bit more indepth review

Re: Burning Heaven Campaign Launched + Patch 1.1!
Just finished it.

I'm also getting some major lag in the first mission.

The voice acting, while not quite on par with a professionally developed game, was decent, and I enjoyed the story that was there. The missions were quite tense, even the one I'm mentioning in the spoiler that had no combat.

Spoiler:
The moral choice with the Nero was a nice touch, but ultimately meaningless. It didn't really help that I could replay the mission. I destroyed the colony ship only to find that it contained quite a few civilians. At that point, I simply restarted and chose not to set off the bomb. I really felt immersed in the world the first time through, though.

Unfortunately, other than during that sequence, the ships destroyed the immersion entirely. Several Colossus sized ships were flying around, there were flak cannons (which during FS2 were stated not to have been developed until after the Great War), a beam cannon, and fighters from every era. I was half expecting the elite fighter squadron in the last mission to have shields or something.

Finally, I have to ask: Sonar? In space? Really? I mean, yeah, that mission probably took place in an atmosphere, but seriously.

The missions, while clever, were plagued with glitches. Particularly the attack on the Constantine. Maybe its the fact that I don't have a recent enough build of the game, but I encountered several bugs in that mission including:
Not boosting after capturing transport Kappa. I had to restart the mission. This happened twice.
Being destroyed by the second boost in that mission
My IFF beacons not doing anything to the Constantine (I "only" hit their flak turret)

Again, I have a feeling these issues may be on my end, but I would like some confirmation on that.

I look forward to more work from you as you improve your craft. This is a good campaign, although short, and I had fun!

Having the latest version of the game makes all the difference.  The current version should fix the bugs you encountered.

If you want, I could replace them by Esarai's ships and Vengence. :x

Edit: Damn it. Now, I really want to replace those ships by ones I said.

Should be? Not sure what 'weird flashing scrren thing' refers to.

To respond to the comments regarding the stock ships. They were put in there mainly because I didn't have an art team. :) I pulled a themed set of ships that Scooby_Doo made and used those as the ITN ships. Just getting, balancing (mostly nerfing) and getting the tremendous amount of bugs that were associated with the custom ships was a ton of work. If anyone would be willing to go through the laborious process of either creating custom pre-Freespace era ships, or at least finding ones on the Wiki that look old, downloading, balancing, and fixing the errors associated with any sloppy user-generated ships, feel free to.

Re: Burning Heaven Campaign Launched + Patch 1.1!
You could use the FreeSpace port and use FS1 ships or borrow assets from the Terran Vasdudan War Project's unification war.
Normal people believe that if it isn't broke, don't fix it. Engineers believe that if it isn't broke, it doesn't have enough features yet.
The difference between Mechanical Engineers and Civil Engineers is:
Mechanical Engineers build weapons.  Civil Engineers build targets

Re: Burning Heaven Campaign Launched + Patch 1.1!
Considering it takes place before energy-based weapons are common, as well as before the invention of any kind of subspace, I'd say ship designs would have been radically altered by the time of the Terran Vasudan War. Most of the campaign you use actual kinetic 50 MM rounds, and Fury dumb-fire missiles. The last mission features the ML-10 Laser, and the MX-10 Heat Seeker, a nod to FS1's ML-16 and MX-50.

The first mission is really unplayable..
And it looks very strange to pilot the Ares whereas the campaign occurs before the Great War. Still, without any art team, it's understandable.

The released TVWP campaign takes place just at the discovery of subspace and well before the Terran Vasudan war, so ship designs would be more in line with the time frame of Burning Heaven.
