Is it possible to insert a non-ascii letter like "é" "à" in mission dialog ? (I want to translate some missions in french)

It is possible by using the Ascii codes but most of them don't show up ingame anyway.

For freespace 1, I have the version with french subtitles. And specials letters show correctly... According to you, it isn't possible with freespace 2 ?

Is that subtitles or mission radio chatter? (is it in the same place as text in the English version? on the top?)

I believe that there is already a French translation of FS2. If you're working on a different campaign DO NOT translate the missions.

Interesting. Is there also a german translation? AFAIK FS2 was released in german too.

There was a (fully) translated German version with missions voice etc. People should give Turey the translated VPs to add a radio button to the installer to select language.

it's radio chatter and walk-through missions before start mission. Is it possible to edit font01.vf, font02.vf, font03.vf (in sparky_fs2.vp) to add missing letters ? When I replace these files by freepace1 files, "é" "à" display correctly but I have some new display bugs ...

Volition gave us a font tool when they released the source. Never used it though.

- Fonttool. A simple utility for generating and kerning the font files FS2 uses.

That's all I really know about it. Can't say I ever tried it. I'll try downloading and building it tomorrow.

FontTool. The release build gave me 53 Errors when building it so I gave you the debug version. I have absolutely no idea how to work this thing or use any fonts you do manage to make it spit out so anyone who wants to try it is on their own.
