Progress on FPS stuff minimal. Minor progress on soldier dood model. Minor progress on DoodPoseyTool. Delays. Procrastination. Wasted time thinking about "magical solutions" e.g. "throw neural nets at it". Reviewed status of FPS engine and whether soldier could stay upright if I disabled the cheaty angular-momentum destroying thing; he couldn't. Disappointment.

In other news, I'm back from winter vacation with my older brother and his wife and toddler in California. Apparently I have an attractive cousin

My vision has become blurry over the last month to the point that I have trouble reading even large text and can't safely drive.

Seems to be a rare side effect of a medication. (The great thing about rare side effects is that they obviously happen to someone and little is known about them because they're rare.) Looks like it'll likely get better on its own, but it could take a month or more. It's been over a week and no improvement yet. Needless to say, it brings my work for HLP grinding to a halt.

(And no, it's not from spending too much time watching TV or playing games or what have you. I've been getting that a lot and it got old fast.

I am really regretting signing up to host a live-action roleplaying event at the next convention. When I came up with the idea about 6 months ago, I thought it would be a good idea and fairly straight forward. Now that it's only a month away though, I have no idea what I'm going to do for the event. I simply don't have the drive for roleplaying anymore.

I don't want to cancel the panel either, since that looks bad and they would have to find a replacement panel on such short notice. This leaves only two options, I either need to find someone who is passionate and experienced in such things to help me, or I soldier through it alone and hope for the best.

I'm sorry to hear that, jg, any chance you can talk to your doctor and get on some new medication?

Medication's already been adjusted, but it could take another week or two to see if things improve. If they don't, then we'll have to re-evaluate the diagnosis. Suspecting things like rare, poorly documented side effects is necessarily taking a step into Speculationland. Results from various diagnostic tests are normal so far, which is a very good sign at least.

finished laying out 2 more pcbs, my vga dac and my replacement game pad mobo (which fits in a ps2 controller and has a header for a radio module with a 1km range). im going to do several in one pass since it costs the same amount of materials to do several as it does to do one. this means i can make pcbs for about 5 or 6 unfinished projects.

i want to replace that clunky, glitchy, chinese made radio ive been using with my r/c heli. this will be the transmitter. its technically a transciever so i can probibly do telemetry too. unfortunately i dont have enough pins to drive an lcd display directly. but i got a spare mcu pin so i could probibly drive another spi slave, and the i2c bus is also broken out. gonna have external ports for those if i ever decide to work on a display (which i have an idea for).

I find that these days I just suck at gaming anything even on the easiest of difficulties. Destroyed attention span aside (damn this instantaneous generation!!!), the only game IMHO I am reasonably good at has a playerbase full of trouble, to the point that a single round of multiplayer with said troublesome players would either result in non-stop shouting/yelling, vulgarities being thrown around, or even worse, fist fights. The game itself taking the cash-cow direction just makes it worse... Marketing, marketing, marketing...

TL;DR, still stuck in a lull rut, unable to do anything. Hopefully things will turn out better at the end of the year. In the meantime, still lurking but not really keeping track of any developments on HLP... (is my install still 3.6.13?

im sick of web services that require you to own a cell phone to do anything. cell phones are horrible devices with their low baud rate human interfaces and the constantly smudged screens and the fact that you have to pay monthly fees to keep them working. id be ok with their existence if they didnt try to take over all the things on the internet. nuke all the things.
