Hey all,
I tried looking for a sticky for recommended File hosting sites here but I guess I missed it if there is one? Anyone know of a good file hosting site that will let me upload zipped files? Thanks all!

Try Yahoo Geocities. It provides some free file hosting on the web.

Or, you could try Freespace mods, if what you want to host is freespace-related. Information is on a stickied thread on Missions and Campaigns board.

RapidShare is annoying at times, but Megaupload's even worse, because it never works (for me).

I've been paying for MyDataBus, which started off as a mostly-free service.  When they switched over to a pay-only model, I received a freebie service level increase for signing up.  $11 or so a year for 10 GB of storage and 2 GB of public bandwidth per day is pretty damn good in my book.  I think the current account at that payment level is half of both of those values, but it might be worth taking a look at.

I have stuff on DivShare, though I haven't checked it for a while, so I don't know what stage their at, and I'm not to familiar with how popular/whether others can access your files easily. I think they can from memory if you allow it.

From what I've experienced, most of the free file-hosting services out there are an utter travesty to deal with, particularly on the end of the person who's downloading the files.  "Oh, Rapidshare, I'm sorry that I've downloaded more than 10 MB in a half-hour period.  Sure, I'd be happy to wait another half-hour to try again!"  Plus, I'd like to see one of those handle uploading 1.5 GB worth of files at once.

SkyDrive works fine...but there's a 50MB cap on each file. The biggest file I uploaded into my Cloud - the patched Fire Fight disk image - is almost that big and it took forty minutes to upload on my 3.5mbps connection.

There's no more Borg-encrypted, 28-letter long Egyptian-ish kanji captcha and the waiting period between downloads has dropped to 15 minutes. Granted, downloading big things requires time and some effort since the size limit is 100 megs. But I'd rather do something than start paying many moneys, effectively preventing me from having dinner for the duration of two weeks.

The fact that there's any sort of noticeable time limit is more than enough for me to utterly dismiss the service.  In any case, I'll consider what I have to be the best of both worlds, since I'm getting excellent service for what is essentially the cost of one dinner a year.
