Are the people who are making the mod or the mod itself dead?Its just that its been 2 years without even a demo release.I hope this wont go the way of BTRL and die.

I also got some ideas for ships you should include if the mod is still on.

Viper MK1s-There virtual the same as the TOS ones except using the re-imagined series weaponry instead of lasers.Probably not as maneuverable as the mk2 either.

First Cylon war Raiders-You could just use a tos raider model until one that looks more like the razor ones is made.

First Cylon War Basestar-Like the MK1 viper its exactly the same as TOS BSG version but just with re-imagined series weaponry like missiles and kews.

You all should just make this mod open source and release what you have.It would get done faster that way with more people being able to help.

That's almost certainly not how that would go. Rather than having a dozen threads saying things like "Here's some new music" or "Here's a coding trick to make catapult launches work" You'd have 2 dozen threads saying "You released this - where's the music!" or "Why don't catapult launches work! You said they'd work in release 1!", not to mention the nightmare of tech supporting something that's half finished and therefore would have a massive number of potential combinations, installation mistakes etc. The team would spend more time on tech support than making new content.

Way to start your membership here, mate. Had you taken the time to check the Developer's Blog, you would have realized that this mod is very much alive.

You all should just make this mod open source and release what you have.It would get done faster that way with more people being able to help.

Unfortunately, mod development does not work that way. It takes a set of very specialized skills to make a good mod, and most of those cannot be "open sourced". Given the mod teams quality standards, and the amount of skill present, we have every reason to be confident that, when they release it, it will be awesome. If they need help, they'll announce it in the recruitment threads.

It's not dead, in fact we've had updates fairly recently and have been making pretty good progress lately. Two years isn't really a lot to basically develop a new game of this scope from the ground up by a team of volunteers. Heck, lots of commercial games are in development for even longer then that and those are made by larger teams of people who are paid to work on it at least 8 hours a day, if not more.
If I may suggest, the next time you have a question take a look on the forums and see if it has been already asked and answered recently.

I didnt even know you had a developer blog.But im glad to here that the mod is still being worked on and not dead.I really hope at least a demo is released soon.

Seriously, check the forums for already answered questions before asking them. For instance the answer to your question above can be found in the FAQ. It's there for exactly these sort of questions.

For the first release? no. Eventually? Quite likely.

If/when we get round to 1CW it'll be done right, with some sweet new hardware and a campaign.

There's an original series mod which was released good half dozen years ago at least.

First of all I have not seen that mod your talking about anywhere.Also the TOS ships have different weaponry than the rdm first cylon war ones so lasers going up against machine guns would look silly and out of place.But I dont think it would be that hard to change the weapons with a little moding.

Do you have a link to that old mod?Id like to try out my modding skills by changing the weapons myself.

Relax. The old mod Dekker's talking about was unknown to me until recently as well.

Heck... I'd need to dig through my posts to find the thread I even learned of its existance from! Regardless, it was never finished. One of the Colonial vessels is currently being considered for a ship in BP:WiH, though.

Karajorma knows the one I think. It had the big G, Vipers, Raiders and sounds/music. That's all

Yalp. I even suggested the possibility of updating a few of the ships for use in Diaspora. As the levels of detail/quality isn't that good in comparison to what the team is shooting for though, that was not taken in for consideration.

I'd really like to see them get a Scorpion or "Mk. I" Viper in place, though.

I'm not sure you can even get those to run... or what else of this mod was made but disappeared.

...By the way, could someone add a Wiki entry about the mod in question? I'm not skilled in editing the Wiki, but having a page about defunct modding projects would be really nice for those of us who don't know too much about things like Imperial Alliance or the TOS BSG mod...
