So, I'm trying to use Poser to make some civillian head anis for TI, and while the program's good at it, it's as unstable as buggery. It crashes when I save, and often crashes when I render, which means the only way to generate the three working anis required for a full set is to make your character, animate, render, rinse and repeat thrice hoping the program doesn't crash in the meantime. If it does, I'm left with odd numbers of anis which, since FS needs the anis in groups of three, I'll probably not be able to use, and I figured rather than wasting them I'll UL them here in case anyone else can find a use for them. In this first pack I've included 3 anis - 2 of one bald white bloke and one of an older looking black guy, but there will be more failures in future, so I'll probably have a few more to UL here before too long. Someone might be able to use them for ships with only a few lines, I dunno. Anyway, AFAIK in order to use them you need to give FS 3 entries in HUD.tbl, so it may be neccesary to repeat these fellows if you want to use them.

Anyway, hopefully I'll get good enough to recreate the GTVA uniform we see in the existing anis with their funny collars, plus I want to generate some pirate fighter pilot ones with a similar-but-not-identical GTVA issue fighter pilots helmet and maybe some GTVA Freighter ones with the GTVA logo on a breat pocket or something, but less formal looking than the command ones... I shall keep you informed, anyway.

You don't have to group regular message anis, just ones for build-in messages.

GTVA Freighter captain,  You can't really tell, but there's a logo on his shirt there as well. This bloke animated really well, so I'm going to do a bunch of them.

I got a patch to fix the saving stability issue, so now all I do is quit after eac batch of rendering, reload the progrm and the scene and keep going.

Oh my! This would be useful for BP. Would you be interested in doing a few custom anis, Black Wolf? We could get rid of anis taken from 3rd party sources like Supreme Commander.

Black Wolf, if you can export the animation itself from poser, i can render it out in massive batches on my pc if needed. i need to check it out a bit, but i believe that Cinema4D can process poser models and animations via a plugin without much problems.

I have a system more or less working now, it's still crash happy, but I can get it to generate anis with reasonable regularity. Thanks for the offer though.

Wow, from the stills, they look really good. And the GTVA cap is a nice touch. I don't suppose you could do a  Riviera Station lookalike for us, could you?

The pearly white teeth look weird... and I remembered why. You'll find that with the original ANIs, placed the microphone so it was covering the mouth and you couldn't tell that the ANIs weren't lip-synched with the speech. I would STRONGLY recommend adjusting the positioning the mic so we can't see what their lips are doing.

OK, well, the situation's changed a bit now that I've stabilized Poser, so I'm not generating duds any more (I can save things now!  ). Net result is, I wouldn't have anything to release publically if I followed my original plan. But, TBH, the minimal variety of Head anis has always been something I've disliked as a FREDder, and I know that it's annoyed other people too. So I think what I'll do is make plenty for TI, but release a few publically in one way or another as well, so they get out there. To that end, I've attched the full three set of anis for this fellow:



to do with what you will. The other two will be for TI. This way, everyone's happy I'll do the same for other things along the way.

Galemp - The problem with the mouths isn't as pronounced when they're speaking, and it looks worse on the darker skin tones because of the contrast. Unfortunately, until I get a bit better at editing poser props, I'm stuck with what I can DL from the web, so I only have the one headset as yet.
