The only mistake the host made is even talking to this guy. You don't engage in a discussion with lunatics, even if they luck out and make a valid point in an extremely lucky rare occasion (and I'm not saying this happened here), it'll be rendered irrelevant as ramblings of an insane person. I did laugh when he proposed he invite him back in a boxing ring and he'll take him. Mr. Jones, I hate to break it to you, but I very much doubt anyone wants to see you without your shirt on. Exactly. I know that the 104,000 is a tiny number but Alex Jones is obviously certifiable. So it's a pretty large number of people to be following someone so obviously off their head. So it does have the effect of making the average American look a lot crazier than they actually are.
