Weird Resolution Issue
Hi Guys,

Up until last night, I was playing FSO (3.7.2) and the campaign derelict quite happily and today, I have developed an interesting problem. With Launcher 5.5G the resolution choice is no longer listed as 1920x1080, in fact, the area is blank and no options are available. Upon pressing play, the game runs but the resolution is terrible, a stretched 4:3 resolution, 1024x768 at a guess.

Recognising that the old launcher may be an issue with Windows 10, I tried the new launcher and although I can select my resolution through that correctly, the in-game resolution is as above.

I wish to resume making the lives of my enemies difficult in HD, does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks,

Chris

Re: Weird Resolution Issue
Please try this:

  • Step 1. Run the fs2.reg file from the steam version. If you do not have it, copy the following text into notepad and save it as fs2.reg, then doubleclick on it.
Code: [Select]
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

  • Step 2. Open regedit (Windows-R, enter "regedit", press return)
    Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Classes\VirtualStore\MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\
You should have a key named "Volition" there.
  • Step 3. Right-click on it, and select "Permissions".
When I did this, the "Group or user names" field was blank. If it is, click "Add".
In the dialogue that now pops up, Enter "ALL APPLICATION PACKAGES" into the "Enter the object names" field.
Click OK. The dialogue should now be populated.
  • Step 4. Go to the FreeSpace2 subkey under the Volition entry. Check permissions as above, and if necessary, fix as above.
