The GTI TAG-B Missile

Tech Room Data

The TAG-B is an enhanced version of the standard TAG-A missile, also developed by GTVI laboratories. With a more shock-resistant substructure around its electronics package, the TAG-B is packed with ultra-sophisticated equipment to provide more useful targeting information to friendly forces. Massive retrofitting of GTVA ship turrets is underway to fully utilize this improved targeting technology.

The TAG weapons seem ineffective in anything other than properly FREDed missions, the only one in the FreeSpace 2 campaign (as far as I know) is A Game of TAG. While they do have a very specific niche beyond that mission for use against stealth ships as noted in the TAG-A article, the slower speed and the need for aspect lock by the TAG-B missile actually makes it WORSE for the purpose of highlighting stealth ships for destruction by friendly capitals.
