Im on the mission where you have to protect the Orestes from the lucifer over that green planet.Im not sure what im supposed to do after my objectives are completed on that mission.I tried going into the fortunes hangar bays but nothing happened.I also cant jump out either. Is there a ship im supposed to dock with or a waypoint im supposed to go to?If so im clueless as to which one.
-
Erm... if this is the mission I think it is, you aren't supposed to win. The Lucy is supposed to kill the Orestes. How are you managing to stop it?
-
Cheats. But thanks for letting know.I wont make the orestes invulnerable next time.
-
You shouldn't cheat in BP ever as there are some key moments which will get messed up. Just lower the difficulty.

Lol, that's great. I replayed that mission at least three times before I figured out that it was neither a skipped mission bug nor a win-able scenario.
For the record, I only ever cheated in JAD.
-
I beet it this time. But whats wrong with cheating?Besides It makes things a whole lot easier in escort missions. If this happens again I just wont make the ship im defending invulnerable.

Nothing wrong with cheating! It's just not how the author intended the campaign to be played. You wouldn't read a book back to front, would you?
-
But whats wrong with cheating?
Some missions are meant to be hard; that's what makes beating them rewarding.
-
cheating is for when you've beat the thing a few times already and are just screwing around. or the rare broken mission.

I need help with another mission.I didnt use cheats except for making myself invulnerable and also for destroying a couple cruisers. Its the one where you have to protect the vishan keeper ship for the first time. After I destroyed all the shivan forces I waited for the keeper and a couple of other ships to jump away.It said all objectives were then completed.Once again theres no place to end the mission.Theres no ship to dock with or no way I can jump out.Was I supposed to let myself get killed or something?
Perhaps someone could give me a list of missions where cheating doesnt work. Please dont say all of them.
-
I think you've got to follow the keeper out.

Try jumping at the node? It's been a long while since I've played BP, so I'm not entirely sure.

If you like cheating so much, do this:
- go to the main hall
- go to the tech room
- go to the mission simulator
- press Ctrl + Shift + S
- rince and repeat.
The Ctrl + Shift + S combination shows all the missions of a campaign. That way, whenever you think you might have played a mission far enough, you can just go to the mission simulator and play the next mission. Or save time and just play the last mission to see the conclusion.
-
There are two missions were you protect the keeper. The first one should just let you warp out anywhere once the keeper jumped. In the secend mission (the one with the two Ravanas) you need to jump at the node.

damn.

BP is very carefully scripted, so cheating may break some important SEXPs.
There's no beta testing for cheats.
-
I got it.You have to jump out inside the node.I cheat and I do it with every game that has them. But the reason I cheat is because I like to play the game through first for the story and then play it normally without cheating afterwords.Besides if they didnt want us cheating developers wouldn't put cheats in there games. And typing www.freespace2.com really fast is hard when your under fire.
-
i also play for story, but i just use lower difficulty rather than cheats. even if i'm mainly interested in the story, it still feels devalued when i cheat.
-
I finished the rest of the campaign with minimal cheating.Only made myself invulnerable. While I wait for Release2 of Blue Planet ill play R1 again with no cheats.

Kids nowadays have no patience.
Bring back frontier elite 2 and metal gear on the nes. That'll harden some resolve.
I mean, if you can just sit there forever taking ZERO DAMAGE what's the point of even playing something?
You don't EARN the mission win.
-
what's the point of playing when you make yourself invulnerable? It ruins the point of the game. Sometimes, the mission is to get you into a mindset of survival, or cockyness. When you cheat, there's the sudden emptiness in the gameplay. Cheats are only for the screw around after you've won.
Why play the mod normally when you already know what's going to happen? It ruins the point of the story, and gameplay. :/ No sense of achievement when there's no challenge. D:
Edit: Besides, it's a dream sequence. And really, you aren't supposed to win. I foudn that out when I got vaporized by the Lucifer's skimming me with it's massive beam. :P
