When I looked round the table and everybody else was looking at their phones, I felt it was okay to sketch.

That's very cool though, I like the chain mail effect.

We'll I was looking to make him a bit more stocky to depict a legionary from the Roma proper as opposed to one of the big bastards they could recruit from Germania or Gual provinces.  The mail was done by splitting the hauberk with a series of light horizontal lines basically to frame the rings, then I alternated which side of the ring was highlighted row by row.

The average Roman soldier was like 5' to 5' 4". I always thought that if I had a time machine it would be a riot to go back and watch the little guys running around.
