As some of you may have heard, I work at Epic Games doing QA for a game called Bulletstorm.
Since I actually like the game, I will share with you its campy, hyper-violent glory.
For starters: The E3 demo - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4HfCqw_8iKo -
-
No, that's not how to get people to be excited for the game. Try this: remember Painkiller? Yeah, same people. Don't remember Painkiller (http://www.escapistmagazine.com/videos/view/zero-punctuation/57-Painkiller)? Go get the demo (http://store.steampowered.com/app/3200/), then go get the game, then be excited that those folks are doing something new.
-
I never played painkiller, so i couldn't tell you about that.
-
The gun shoots shurikens and lightning!
-
Turambar, off the record, how many former ex. 3DRealms people are employed by Epic?
Just make sure this game doesn't turn to Borderlands (looked more like level grinding last time I saw it) and you have a sell. It's about time somebody got the FPS done right. Though I'm a little bit worried about the generic looking protagonist and enemies.
Painkiller indeed has a lot of variety in the enemies. I might check the selves of the local game shop again.
-
Colour me impressed.

GoG Painkiller: Black Edition for ten bucks.

I can tell you guys that the E3 demo is actually a pretty representative sample of gameplay, and isn't just some bull**** thrown together montage created to make a good impression.
Also, after 2 weeks of working here looking at all the flaws of the game, it's still fun to play.

We're on a little crunch getting ready for this. It's gonna be a fun show!
-
.... I hear Steven Blum. :D

here's the gamescom demo, with the reveal of the Burnouts, the quad barrel shotgun Boneduster, and the giant ass ****in dinosaur Hekaton

Seriously, that's all I need to be sold on it.

Specific pre-ordered copies will come with an invitation to the Gears 3 beta!
I have no idea how they badgered EA and Microsoft to cooperate on this one, but I like it!

NSFW. Tura, have you gotten around to playing painkiller yet?
-

Cussin' like a sailor man. It's kinda funny, cause I get the impression he doesn't swear in his regular conversational speaking.
-
Watched the trailers and the dev dairy of the characters and i have to say this game sounds like it might be a damn good laugh, with the overtop swearing and violence! "PULL UP YOUR SKIRT , AND STRAP THAT DILDO ON!!" classic line!
Can't wait to see what the uk newspaper The Daily Mail makes of this one as they condem well almost all video games for being the cause of societys problems.

With Bulletstorm, they might finally be on to something! I tell you, this game is going to teach a lot of kids a lot of new words that their parents aren't going to like (even though the parents bought the game for the kids and forgot to turn on the mature language filter).
-
Hm, this looks like it's gonna be fun.
I hope it runs on my system...

-
Indeed. I hope this runs well, but it looks far beyond my system. Heck, it looks a lot like Crysis without the vegetation.
-
Guys, it's Unreal Engine 3 and the consoles are getting it. You're not going to have any kind of troubles comparable to Crysis.
-
Says you. I can just run borderlands at 1024x600, hacked the outline shader off, dynamic shadows off.

The game is rated 18 and will come with the standard blurb on the back telling the buyer that it will contain sex/volience/swearing etc , its an adult game that kids shouldn't play it and parents should know by now not to buy an adult game for a child and if they do buy for there kid, sorry its the parents fault not the game developers.
Anyway i think this is game is going to be a good laugh!

This is a first-person shooter in which players assume the role of a space pirate who must escape a planet populated by mutant cannibals.
You've got at least one buyer!

Indeed. I've always failed massively at first-person shooters, but I think it'd be worth it just for the quotes :3
-
Bulletstorm is GOLD! Also be sure to check out the latest game from Epic and PCF: Duty Calls (http://www.thedutycalls.com/)
-
I tried to install that twice last night, but the installer crapped out on me each time in the middle of updating some DirectX thing. That makes me sad. :(

you could always watch TotalBiscuit's playthrough of it
(It's less than 10 minutes long)
-
Tried the demo! Found out I suck at this game. :p
-
The fun thing is, I've never played a Call of Duty title, so some of it is probably lost on me in the first place. :p

Check out the Breakdance skillshot, one of my favorites

Indeed. It changed the game.

Yoga + Video Games ?

Who cares? It's Penny Arcade.

Mini-lol.

Penny Arcade is occasionally lol-worthy
-
lol Fox News is up to their usual crap again... this time targeting Bulletstorm, it seems.

Indeed.

Games for Windows Live?
$60 on steam?
lolnope
Not buying this now.
Maybe if it goes on sale later for like less than half price.

More free publicity!
-
I've got to say, though it's a program I'd never go out and buy, I think this is more so an issue of being a discerning customer. If you buy a MA-rated game, you get what you pay for. FPS's in most cases these days are simply not kid's games. That is all.
-
One of my hall-mates wishes to congratulate the developers of this game. He has missed six classes since it came out.
-
I haven't tried Duty Calls, though I gather I should, but it's rather amusing to watch the game cleave so closely to convention after it's marketing involved, y'know, mocking those conventions.
Only played about an hour so far, but I rather like what I've seen.
-
Anyone picked it up yet?
-
Anyone picked it up yet?
Too 'spensive for an FPS purchase.
-
37.90 € for PC here.
Hmmm
Was it so that this was a Steam game?
-
No Steam, but Games For Windows Live, I note.
I think I'll still wait for the reviews.
-
Anyone picked it up yet?
I was unclear, apparently. Yes.
It's a bit too Medal Gears of Duty in its presentation and tone (so far the general seems to be the only one who realizes they're, uh, putting the fun back in the shooter), but I like it.
-
Meh... I don't see the appeal.
-
You don't see the appeal of hilariously over-the-top ways to generate piles of corpses? What's wrong with you mang? :p
-
It just seems....like a gimmick-sale.
If I want manliness and one-liners, I got Serious Same and Duke. There's UT and loads of other FPS games for the multiplayer killings.
So, no. I don't really see the appeal.
-
(http://img222.imageshack.us/img222/2619/shippingpcstormgame2011q.jpg)
Sniping guys becomes a tiny flight sim, where the objective is to kamikaze into someone's head, throat, or ass. How's that for appeal?
-
That sounds fantastic.

This game doesn't even have competitive multiplayer. Also the script is allegedly pretty good.
Painkiller.

Painkiller.
"It fires shuriken and lightning"
-
Ok i picked it up from my local game store for PC at £10.99 (got to love those loyalty points!) played it for about 45 mins and i have to say i was bored as hell with it! After about 20mins i had to knock off the voices, Steve Blum is a great voice actor but grays one liners where starting to annoy me!
Did anyone else have the problem of getting stuck by terrain and dead bodies???? i was constantly kept getting stuck by bits of terrain and dead bodies which kept resulting in me dying because i couldn't move :hopping: ! Also what 1st person shooter dosen't have a jump key!
I just wish you could trade in PC Games!
-
While I largely stand by my earlier complaint, the, ah, family fun level did present a compelling counter-argument.
-
Yeah i ended up to finishing it, apart from a lot and i mean a lot of clipping issues resulting in me restarting checkpoints lots of times and errors with Games for Live on the pc, its not that bad, General Sarroco is awesome, his lines are just so funny and the award of hot rear entry for shoot someone up the butt with a explosive sniper round is funny as hell! just needs a patch or so, to get rid of the clipping problems. Also for microsoft to ditch games for live, as its giving me weird errors left, right and center
-
I had no clipping issues whatsoever, FWIW
-
The advertising for this game is ****ting me off. ****ing obnoxious popup videos with no obvious off button (had to close the window to get rid of it). I'd not buy it on principle due to stuff like that. :\
-
I don't think the game's developers are responsible for those.
-
I know that, but it's still really annoying. And I assume someone who would theoretically get my game-buying moneys OKed them at some point.
-
Ah.... Advertising in the 21st century. Isn't it great?!
-
Generally no...but there are occasionally ad campaigns that are cool.
-

-
Hey dicktits, this game is awesome. Brutally awesome, killing your dick! Instead of making more witty comments now and quoting the game, I herby give my recommendation to buy it NOW!
-
glad you enjoyed it, Vidmaster
