-
I think it must have been the original Crystal Quest on the Mac.
-
Solitaire....
If you don't want to count "comes with windows' games, either Oregon Trail or Doom.
-
Now, let a real gaming dinosaur answer that :D
Mine was Zaxxon on the Commodore C64, we played it in a school hour were we had a substitute teacher who had no idea what to do with us.
It must have been 1987 or 88 if I'm not mistaken :)
From that day, Computergames became my most beloved freetime exercise :)
-
Descent.
It was a lot scarier back then... :nervous:
-
Prince of Persia 2, IIRC.
-
GPEGA

I think it must have been the original Crystal Quest on the Mac.
This was my first game too, and I played it regularly for years. I beat the old high score that I had set back in '94 or something only last summer. :D
-
I think it was Sim City, but it may have been wolfenstein...
-
On PC: Age of Empires
First game ever played: Super Mario World
*looks at posts above*
Wow, I feel so... young.
-
Descent (hence came the alias Descenter) :D
-
Some 'Space Invaders' clone for some ancient Commodore PC. Must have been around 1990.
-
The Land Before Time, or was it Doom? I forget...
Edit: It may Have been Descent 2, I was more afraid of the guide bot than my enemies....
-
Mechwarrior 3. I bought it when I bought my first PC, plus I got the Sidewinder. :D
First game EVAR though, I'd have to say it was Sonic and Knuckles.
-
Reader Rabbit on an old IBM :p
-
Chip's Challenge in Windows 3.1 on the first PC my family got. Although, that came with Windows, so the first REAL game for me was Tie Fighter. 8)
-
Hmmm... Commander Keen? Or was it Castle Wolfenstein?
-
Descent: Freespace :p
-
Probably Sim City 2000.
-
Descent: Freespace :p
Wow...you never started playing games until then? not to be rude, but how old are you again?

My first computer game I played was in fact pong on the original Atari, (shows how old I am :nervous:) and the first computer game I owned was an Intellivision console with Space Battles, Tron, Skiing and Football cartridges, after that I played on friends ZX81 and Spectrums until I once asked for my own computer and was bought an Oric Atmos (WTF? I hear you say, and I was the same) there were no games for this, only a handbook for programming in BASIC for it. I spent hours copying some of the games from the book onto the computer and then saving them onto cassettes only for them not to work and then I had to spend a few more hours going through the code line by line correcting my errors until they worked. Then the games were rubbish, such as a fruit machine type game :ick: I soon gave up on this. Eventually I got my own PC approximately 10 years ago and I haven't looked back since. (Although I have had NES, SNES, Sega Master Systems, Megadrives, Sega Saturns, Playstations and PS2s over the years, the PC is still my favourite )
-
GATO on the Commodore 64.
Damn the patrol boats. Damn them to hell.
-
frogger, i think
damn that was back in ancient times too. when i was like 5 or 6.
-
the Amstrad CPC464 came with a raft of Amsoft games. The first game I really remember was Ghostbusters (first game I went out and bought).
-
Other than Solitaire, my first PC game was SimEarth *nods*
-
If you haven't received one yet:
:welcome:
-
First real (non-Game Maker) game was Descent... and God... that lifter bot was damn scary.
-
Chip's Challenge! How could I have forgotten that game! *slaps his head*
I really should play that again... is it installed on XP machines?
It doesn't come with Windows anymore, but I think you can download it for free now.
-
Missile Command on the Atari.
I still have flashbacks.
-
Very first game? Fury 3, a rip off of (or perhaps they were ripped off by) Terminal Velocity.
-
Fury 3 was the ripoff, Terminal Velocity was the original. And then there was Hellbender. Which was great fun, methinks.
-
Fury 3 had much better music.
-
Fury 3 had much better music.
Man...the music from that game is so good, I *still* listen to it. I loved Fury3 so much..
-
You have a full set? I only have five or so of the tracks.
-
Crystal quest
-
Descent: Freespace
-
Crystal quest
i used to play that alot at high school. i wonder if theres a windows port or at least a clone.
-
Descent: Freespace :p
Wow...you never started playing games until then? not to be rude, but how old are you again?
Well, first game I played on the PC that wasn't dos crap, for any length of time (although I did touch Civ I and Sim Earth a few times) was Freespace anyways. Certainly it was the game that started my whole interest in computers and ze intarnet.
And you can see my age in my profile :p
-

Ngt, I do, or at least the songs that are in redbood audio on the game cd *nods* If you have the game just stick it in a cd player and play tracks 2 and on. Track 1 is the data track and will make a terrible terrible sound :P
Another game (series really) that had an amazing soundtrack were the three Mechwarrior 2 titles, which also have redbook audio on the game discs :) Quake 1/2 and some of the expansions' songs were pretty decent with redbook as well.
-
I've got the Mechwarrior 2/Mercenaries/GBL soundtracks and places you can find them online, if anyone's interested.
-
Man, I wish the old Mech2 team could get the FASA license back and make a GOOD new Mechwarrior game... I liked Mechwarrior 3 but thought 4 was pretty ****ty :(
-
the first game i played on a computer that was actually mine had to be descent 2.
-

I only played MechWarrior 1, thats original and "new" Matrox Mystique version with actual textures

I don't. <,< >,>
My copies are MP3, from the glory days of Napster.
-
dos crap
How dare you.
By the way, my first game ever played was "Midnight Rescue!". I oddly enough remember that game better than any other for the time I played on my o' Emerson 386SX. Probably because me being 5 years old, was the most awesome thing I've experienced before then.

You mean the one with the TV Station, Master of Mystery or whatever he was, and the math problems? Puzzle Solver's Club too, or something like that. You wore a hat and blue jacket.
I remember that...
-
Funnels & Buckets (Math so-so)
Xenon 2: MegaBlast (not bad)
Descent: Destination Saturn = :eek2: :shaking: (considering that I was used to the first two ;) )
-
Ironicaly enough, DooM
Yes, I'm a sick person
-
First ever game: it was either Descent 1 or Star wars X-wing Vs. Tie fighter. at the age of 3-6. i still can't remember. but still, it's the whole reason i love star wars, sci-fi games, space shooters, and everything in between...
first ever console game: super mario brothers for the NES at the age of 5. never seemed to get past the first world....
first N64: hmm.....that has to be star wars Rouge Squadron
First Xbox game: halo 2 is the whole reason i got a xbox. common, best FPS ever.
First gamecube game: legend of zelda: the wind waker, i think.
First FPS: Either descent, doom, or Duke Nukem. simply can't remember.
First RPG: Zelda wind waker
First Gameboy: that would be pokemon yellow back in grade 1 sometime then.
First ever program on the computer: Paint. i loved making stuff at the age of 2...i even got a picture of it!!
First DS: super mario 64 DS
strangely enough, i never knew descent was made by the same company as freespace until about a year ago(2005)... you should of seen my face....
-

You lose.
I started that game at age 3, beat it at 5.
-
ya well, never like platformers since then...
-
Reader Rabbit (suxx0rz)
Myst. (first REAL comp game)
-
MineSweeper. :p
First real pc game was F-22 Lightning 2.
-
First one on PC: Tank Wars... no wait... I guess that was the first one on my very first own PC. Before that I think I played Alley Cat or some EGA Ski game on my friends computer. Then again it might have been solitaire or some other simple enough card game on my relatives computer... I just can't remember correctly, too much time has passed.
First one on C64: This I do remember like it was yesterday. Some F1 game, not Pit Stop though, it was a less known one. Bloody nice though, I got the C64 as a christmas present and I remember playing with it so much on the same day that the joystick was all sweaty on the evening :P
-
Rogue on the Amstradc CPC464 I think. Had played consoles prior to that (We had an atari I don't entirely remember, and a Vectrex), but that was the first computer game. Here's another one though - what about the first game you ever modded? For me - ZZT :D
EDIT - Wait - my memory has always been dodgy - it was probably rogue, but it may have been Jet Set Willy or Bomber Jack - We had them all and I played them all a fair bit, but Rogue sticks in my memory the strongest.
-
Can't recall ... it was either Popeye or some winter olympics on C64....
Then there was the Amiga 600 with Pinball Dreams, Mortal Kombat 2 and some F1 game I can't recall.. :D
-
First PC game was MechWarrior 2 at a friend's house.
First game on any machine was probably Risk on the Sega Genesis (yes, I was about six when I started playing).
-
Fury 3 had much better music.
Man...the music from that game is so good, I *still* listen to it. I loved Fury3 so much..
I demand musiccaps.
-
Give me somewhere to upload 18mb of .rar'd mp3s and you can have more. :p
-
The SA FTP? :nervous:
-
Me? FTP Access? Hahahaha...oh wait, you're serious, aren't you.
-
Well, I posted a thread a couple of months ago saying that anyone who wanted access should PM me. :p
Anyway, there are probably other places you could post it. Rapidshare, Megaupload, and Mydatabus come to mind.
-
Wouldn't that be considered piracy? :p
-
He can just PM the links.
-
Wouldn't that be considered piracy? :p
Yarr!
-
On the PC it was 'Strike Commander' from Origin. I bought the game a month or two before we got the PC. The game took up 1/3 of the PC's hard drive. :D
Among the first games I played on the Amiga 500 was 'Giana Sisters.' I never figured out how to do a save game, so I never got far.
I don't remember any particular games in the C64. Was just playing on it.
-
my first video game was kung fu for the NES, my first PC game was wolfenstein.
-
Ooh. Video game first was Super Mario Brothers on NES >..>;;
-
Sid Meiers Colonization
-
My first pc game was Scorched Earth, I used to play it on an old system which had about 4 mb ram and I think the processor was only 86 mhz. It was along time ago I was just a little kid at the time. But, my actual first game was Super Mario Bros. on the old NES when I was two years old.
-
Scorched Earth rules. I still play that occasionally. It works fine in Dosbox.
-
My first PC game was some motocross thing. my first game ever was Sonic the Hedgehog for the sega genesis
-
On the PC, some EGA darts game in 1989. Then Mario when my brother got a NES for Christmas.
-
Digger for me, we had a monitor back then that only had one color - green.
Plus my father had Nevada Craps, but I never did learn how to play it.
-
Digger for me, we had a monitor back then that only had one color - green.
Green screen!
We had a game called "Antiem" (probably spelling that wrong) after the battle, and I remember looking at the manual and thinking "15 different terrain types, gosh that's complicated". It was for the time; quite impressive too, really had the feel of Avalon Hills-style wargame.
...something which died on the computer with Steel Panthers III and Panzer General II.
-

There's a 3D version out, but it's just not the same as the good ol' classic. The Death Head is still completely ridiculous though. ;)
-
I find that the MIRV is a better buy than that. They still do a lot of damage, but you can get three of them for something like half the price of a death's head.
-
Scorched 3D is fun in a different way than Scorched Earth
-
Indeed. Some friends and I played it at a LAN recently to kill time while others there had to install some games.

I sit next to the guy (well, one of them) who made that, at work. :)
-
Heh, that's awesome.
-
The very first one i SERIOUSLY got into would have to be ones like Gods (A wicked platform game), Leisure Suit Larry ;7 , MOO, Civilization, and a few others i forget the name of. Ahhhhh Civ, you taught me so much. ;)
