Title: UW appreciation
Post by: Vretsu on May 26, 2008, 02:37:40 pm
The demo was awesome, I loved almost everything about it, especially the harrowing first missions. Limited ammunition, no targetting, no support, no jump drives; the atmosphere this created was fantastic. The advent of TARGETING COMPUTERS was liberating.

Great first release, guys. Sublime from start to finish.

Those normal maps look funny. Not up to your usual standards at all.

Hell, i'm german and I don't even know what that should mean. I couldn't even guess!

But still, very true: TVWP is really nice. Enjoyed it very much and (not so) patiently waiting for the next release.

I have returned to once more gorge myself upon the TVWP.

I am surprised that the second installment is not available. Evidently, my extended absences no longer provoke the community into a whirlwind of creative energy.

Am I allowed to talk about how (sort of) done it is, and why it hasn't been released?

Or not so much?

There's creative energy, it's just elsewhere. Goober and I have poured our efforts into Silent Threat: Reborn since TVWP I was released, and the MediaVPs are stunning.

But you're right, we're about due for something.

Go for it.  You might embarrass, blackmail, or inspire someone into doing something. ;)

Okay. There are a large number of missions (and I mean LARGE) FREDded. The problem is not with the missions per se, but the gameplay design.

The missions are long. They are often a bit repetitive. And, unfortunately, it is really really easy to get killed by a circle-strafing Kestrel. This makes testing them onerous and unpleasant, which in turn means the missions have not been iterated properly.
